This may seem like a rant post designed to rile up the forum. Well it may be a rant, but it's really just some random thoughts and questions that have ran through my mind on occasion.
Why must we...
i have read so much of this thread and, for the life of me, I simply cannot bring myself to care about this topic... at all.
For every fraud martial arts school you identify, I assure you that...
couldn't a crappy side kick have the same effect ?
i hear u, but is it really necessary to quote me ... right below my post ? :)
perhaps with the increased security in this country, people feel that it isn't quite as necessary to defend themselves from being physically attacked. Although I doubt it. Just another perspective....
a lot of this sounds great in theory, but i wouldnt be willing to try out all these different applications in a real life situation.
i believe i would be happy if i was lucky enough to apply a...
it doesnt matter how you apply the technique... as long as u can get super p-- off and FLIP OUT (all the time). Is that what you're getting at web ?
i dont really understand what you mean. Example ?
i suppose almost any bodily movement can be used to hurt someone if they're in the wrong place at the wrong time. (or is it right place at the right time ?)
Like if i go to open my car door, and...
I'm convinced that it's all about timing.
not the techniques you use, but when you use them... regardless of style. The sloppiest, most pathetic technique in the world can end a fight if executed...
That is a good question - and i'm not sure why it came to evolve that way. Only a "staggering punch" will score you a point. Which is often left to the judge's discretion.
I would say that tkd is...

I can assure you all that there are just as many hand techniques in tkd as kicking techniqes. This includes finger jabs, palm...
I would definetly agree that 90 % of the tkd schools out there are total garbage. Since moving away from Ny, I've looked everywhere for a good school, but it's all money and babysitting people's...
that was a funny paragraph about aikido :) how do u feel about what steven seagal (spelling?) has done / not done for the martial art ???
I suppose you're right regarding the lack of realistic...
"Big deal. Dosen't mean you're right, or better. Sport tae kwon do is easy to find"
That was my biggest problem with him. He insisted that I was "wrong". Why does someone who is different have...
Ive read that we are more confident what we imitate than in what we originate.
I visited a new martial arts school in town. Tae kwon do. I was told that most of my techniques were incorrect and...
i believe that a supplement begins "Affecting" your body the moment you put it in your body. If you think about how the body works, and how sensitive it's reaction can be to pretty much anything you...
you people are AWEFULLY defensive with your explanations
just the fact that we now have a thread so that we all can explain why we're chatting on this forum instead of training is a bit...
i agree that it was the weakest of the three movies. i still think it was a GOOD movie... and certainly worthy to be part of the series (whereas sometimes i don't even acknowlege a sequel - like...
the main problem i've had over the years with repetitious kicking is some pretty bad hamstring pulls. i haven't had that problem recently since i've started doing them on the heavy bag.

he was obviously just trying to rile everyone up...which is fine. i wont hold that against him if he's starved for some attention.
seriously i would have liked to hear an opposing opinion. ...
it's very interesting you should bring that up...
i measure the intensity of my MA workout by how many kicks i do per workout... or, more importantly, how many kicks i do in a given week.
...
i have to head to work soon so i cant really get into this in great depth. for now i'll do the strength guy and the bodybuilding guy. i may not be able to explain everything cause i'm pressoed...
