Having been practicing 8-Step Praying Mantis, along with Shuai Chaio, Ba Gua, Hsing-I, etc. for a while - I decided to post a modest site. This site ended up to be more of a homeage to my...

    1st Chapter

This is the first of six "chapters" in the 8-Step system. Each chapter can be done individually, or all of them as one long form. Doing them all at once is difficult.

    8-Step Perspective

In 8-Step, the first strike never one meant to take the opponent out. Most strikes and kicks are from a block, supposing the opponent initiated.

    Rational for stance training

First of all, when I'm correcting a flaw in technique, it is almost always because of a problem with foot work. My teacher said a true master/teacher always looks at the feet of the student first....

This is a great clip - and hats off to the student for knowing how to fall on a hardwood floor! But here again, we see the right-hand, right-leg attack.

Over the last 30 years, I have had the opportunity to train under some great teachers. Most notatbly is Lin Chun-fu, who taught me Praying Mantis, Tai-chi, Shaui-chaio, Hsing-I, Ba-Gua. Over the the...

    Keep Going!

I'm real close to 50 and train very hard. I personally think it's good to push your heart rate (if it's healthy).

Mantis forms are both aerombic and anaerobic. This combination, along w/ the...
