    Question staff (3)

How does one shake the staff? And how many can do it?

Are you asking for a poll?

Shake the staff? Are you referring to the transmission of energy to the tip of the pole thus causing the "plum flower".The movement at the end of the pole?

I usually give it two or perhaps three shakes with one hand, whilst keeping a piece of paper in the other to deal with any stray droplets.

Beats me why this is worth a topic...
    Your lineage may vary.

I found success in this came through relaxation, like most things in WCK, along with a good root. If you mean the shake that occurs, for example, when you lift the pole up and down, keeping it's length level to the ground (we call this Siu Chum or Cancelling), the closeness of the grip makes those two things of prime importance, IMHO. If you mean the actual whip-like shaking (bien - whip or taan - side to side), then I'd add an understanding of the intercostal region and/or waist in providing torque.

    Rgds,
