His response to the second kick, where the kid does a forward kick is rather awkward for an internal artist. He grabs the foot and then steps towards the person in a manner that he obviously has given up his root. The person could have easily kicked him with the other leg he was not holding or rolled backwards out of the move and would then have been receiving energy rather than giving it as Mike would be coming at him.

    Other than that, cool stuff.

In real life, I don't think your opponent who throw a straight punch like that.... It's pretty hard to be able to catch the guy's arm when he's throwing a punch towards you....
So I'm not too sure about those techniques, he used there....

    Good demonstration....

Of course when you get to the level where you can catch punches as they come at you like that, your pretty much set.
And if the guy doesn't pull them back, but it is just a demostration and a good one at that.

But that front/forward kick one irks me a bit. Its completely staged. People do not go down like that, the guy doesn't even try to stand on his other leg, just drops comfortably down backward. Usually ends up with the guy hopping around on the other leg unless you bend your knees and use your whole body really push through and up through the whole thing, but the guy doesn't do that here.

But apart from that its funky.

Can't really say that never seen similar chin na clips before (hey great to watch, nothing wrong with that). It also had some other interesting Xing Yi and Bagua videoclips on the site. Thanks for the link, Xebsball!

    Front Kick

Yeah The front kick clip didn't seem to correct. We do a similar move (Tung Toe/swallow spit), but we don't break our root. We root, "swallow"/absorb the incoming energy and redirect/spit it back to our opponents.

None the less it was cool to watch. Thanks Xebsball

    Take care,

Interesting. He does ikkyo irimi, ikkyo tenkan, kotekaeshi, and a few whose names I can't recall.

    Nice clip .

Very cool, the guy looks like he has some serious skill! Most of them look pretty practical to me. Nothing real fancy just straight to the point, nice to tie someone up like that, especially if you dont want to seriously injure them.

I have learned those names in aikido training, but they are derived from the names of aiki-jujutsu techniques. For example, "ikkyo" comes from "ikkajo".

Why doesn't the guy stand within a least like... a METRE of him? And throw a PROPER punch?

The guy in purple shows some skill i'm sure he could handle it.

maybe he just feels like a beaten dog afraid to approach his master.

"you want to shoot another video . .. yay. here we go .. . there's the ground. what do you know ... im on the ground again. i bet in a second .. yep . .i hit the floor again."

being floored over and over again might have taken some of the zest out of him.
