What kind of situational awareness drills do you all do?

I need to do some, so I'm fishing for ideas.

We bring in 3-5 homeless people. 2-3 from urban areas, and 1-2 from highway intersections. We want to know where the urban's shopping carts are and the highway's "Homeless Vet Needs Work God Bless" signs are at all times.

Seriously though, check out some of the situational drills used by krav maga. Regardless what you think of the style they have excellent scenario drills.

It's a shame you need a partner to do these type of drills.

Kind of obvious point, but its still a shame.

Just holding class outdoors every now and then will greatly improve your situational awareness.

Practice in a vacuum and you may only be good in a vacuum.

    go to wingchunkuen.com

Trust me, there is the BEST situational awareness drill ever. I have it on my PC somewhere, it shows a few simple observational drills for crowded areas. Building on the simple "threat assessment" stuff that we all know, it categorises it fully into "zones", with according reactions.

Can be practised hypothetically or on your own.

Imagine fighting everyone u meet outside. Now THATS multiple attackers for ya
All right now, son, I want you to get a good night's rest. And remember, I could murder you while you sleep.
Hey son, I bought you a puppy today after work. But then I killed it and ate it! Hahah, I´m just kidding. I would never buy you a puppy.

In my school, we do all sorts of stuff.

Here's a drill we use: playing one-handed catch with a koosh ball.

I dreamed up that drill on my own, and then I found out that Robert Joffrey's professional NYC jazz dance had been doing the same thing for years.

How does that improve situational awareness?
