    chain whip trainer...

Saw some wushu guys getting ready for training with the chain whip, and they had a cool little trainer made up out of rope, which appeared to have tiny weights inside rubber balls on the ends with some sort of fabric for making the cool noises

It seems straightforward enough, but I was wondering if anyone has made one of these before, and the materials they used.

It was the Ohio State Dragon Phoenix Wushu Team in case anyone cares

At my kwoon, we use the chain whip as is, but we take foam padding & cover the tip & the handle. That way there's not a noticeable difference once the skill level has been worked up to take the padding off. It's the same weapon & basically the same weight.

Quickest, cheapest and easiest way is to put a tennis ball on the end of a string.
