    animal sounds in Hung Gar

I understand that in the more traditional methods of Hung Gar, animal sounds are taught...

What are the animal sounds for? Why are they done?

Interested in switching to a deeper art?

    Just teasing of course...

The best article I read on this was by Charris at hungga.net. Unfortunately, I don't have a direct link because of the navigation the site uses. Goto htt:\www.hungga.net
Select Sets & Techniques, then under Special Techniques, select Titsin Kyun Heigung (sounds).

    Hmmm

    I guess nobody really knows?

Does anyone on this forum train Hung Gar?

    Or do you just practise?

In Bai Mei we pratice sounds, not animal sounds

but sounds that co-inside with our chi-kung training, they maybe "hakka" or cantonese, who knows

    who cares,they work.

    Hi,

In Hung Ga two kinds of sounds are used:

    A) Sounds for demonstration purposes. While making a tiger claw: "Wah", while making a crane technique "Po(k)". (Not everybody does this)
Mainly just show, because while practising normally we don't do that.

    B) Sounds for Chi Kung.
Based on the Taoist theory of five elements a certain sound (connected to an emotion, like tjaa is crying) has influence on the flow of chi to a certain organ of the human body.
See www.hungkyun.net/titsinkyun.htm to see a our Chi Kung Form "Tit Sin Kuen" and an indication of what sounds and
www.hungkyun.net/titsin2.htm for a description how these sounds work and on which theory they are based.

    Hope this helps you out.

    WH...

A flawed test to get inconclusive results from which a conclusion is subjectively drawn to satisfy a shallow curiosity... Impressive... but I think I'll just go back to training now.

    You're right....

I was just using that as a tactic to get more people to talk about it...

    Not very nice...

buy the Lam Sai wing books, buy the Kwong Wing Lam videos.
Study the style. Ask your sifu. There's plenty of better ways to find out the nature of aspects concerning a style, especially these types of the more esoteric aspects that you are asking.

You're not gonna get a decent answer here on the forum, unless one of you Hung pracs want to reveal some of the secrets of your system? :D
