What do you mean by 'better?' Both methods do 'the job' but I think what's been said regarding hard (mouth) vs. soft (nose) makes sense.
If by 'better' u mean more controlled more strengthened u might want to investigat the breath methods of yoga. there is 1 where they concentrate breath in thru one nostril n out threu the other (then reverse that when you get it down). Very hard to do, but is possible and helps for mindfulness/health in a strange way. I don't know if that would be good for ma's tho. (???) Maybe other ones that they have.
