    Another TKD thread

I don't usually do this sort of thing but this guy is in my town
and I just happened to see his billing as a "12th Dan" and had
to see if his website offered an explanation.

    http://www.jeonsworld.com/index.htm

lo and behold, his website qualifies him as a "12th Dan(Total)"

    anyone heard of "kicheondo"?

and how did he apparently get a 5th dan in "Wushu/Tai Chi"?

    hmmm...........

what sucks is he has a ton of freakin' students.

    sorry, just ranting.

"Undefeated total 12th degree black belt" I think he added his ranks (6 + 2 + 4) and made himself of 12th degree.

    Too darn funny!

Dam nit... it made sense when it was running through my head.

    It's sad really.

My first MA experience was in a TKD School in
Durham NC. A Sherman Fog (or Fogg) was the instructor.
I remember a very no nonsence atmosphere and a very
common sense approach to self defense. He was the
very first person to tell me "Run, if you can. It's not worth
it even if you win the fight" I remember doing the first form
(poomsa??) with the 4 or 5 movements in each direction.
And really digging it at 13 years old.

    Master Fog and others

    Hi Matt,

I hope you are still around this thread. I am collecting documentation to support biography documentation for a beloved master that recently passed away, and I was hoping you could provide some insight that might be helpful.

He studied under master Sherman Fog, in the 70's which I believe is around the time you were in the area. He mentioned other teachers like Sifu Yum Lee and Sifu Frashure. They might have been teaching in the vicinity of Master Sherman Fog's school and probably were popular in that area of Durham, NC. at that time. Unfortunately, there's not much documentation online about these masters and you seem to be knowledgeable about at least one (Mr. Fog) so I thought you would be helpful.

If you knew or had heard of them (Sifu Yum Lee and Sifu Frashure ) and information that you could provide would be well appreciated for the purpose of documenting their historical presence in the marital arts world.

    Best Regards,

    Joe
