    Question Baguazhang in Beijing?

    Hello,

Recently I applied for a scholarship to study for one year in the People's Republic of China. I will probably go to Beijing and attend classes at one of the universities in the Chinese capitol.

I would like to continue my martial arts training there. Would any of you happen to know information on teachers/schools of Traditional Styles? I am particularly interested in Baguazhang, Praying Mantis and Bajiquan. Hope you can provide me with some information.

    Looking forward to your reply.

Once in Beijing track down the Beijing Tiyu Daxue(not hard its huge),this is the official psyhical training uni,and has all the stardardised MA plus sanda. You well be able to get contacts there who will lead you to the countless other schools/styles (traditional and modern)who will be happy to teach overseas people. From there its up to you.

Within the capital, there were also divisions of Ba Gua.

South city and north city etc.

Actually most of the famous first gen disciples were in Beijing.

Wow. Another old or necro thread rising.

If I were to go to the capital,

    I would learn shuai jiao.

Beijing shuai jiao incorporated all of the styles of shuai jiao in China.

And have a taste of peking duck of course.

Sun Zhijun is probably the best Baguazhang teacher and practitioner in Beijing today, at least in the Cheng Tinghua branch.
