I'm sticking with an allergic reaction to some chick he has been hanging out with.

I'm thinking it's probably a plant, or insect bites. From the pictures and symptoms of skin infections, almost everything would point to either plants or insect bites.

The only common link was trimming the grass after mowing the lawn, and it's quite possible I rubbed up against something. I'm going to inspect around the house for any poison ivy/oak.

Do they have much of a problem with chiggers in San Antonio? Every summer, my oldest gets several bites like what you are discribing, and my ex says it's from chiggers. (He's in the Dallas/Fort Worth area) Try putting Vick Vapor Rub on a bite or two. It's supposed to kill the little buggers and allow the bite to heal faster.

I don't know if it's a problem, but that's what I suspect it is. The only thing that throws me off is that they don't really itch, which most people say that they do.

Not allways. My son only seems to be bothered by them if they are in a bad spot, like the armpit of the back of his knee. Maybe some of the problem is psycho-sematic. The creepy part of chiggers is that they burrow under your skin and stay there till they die and are reabsorbed into your body. Yick!

i'm tempted to start a poll for that last question:

What the hell is a chigger? Is that like a tick?
    1. a measurement of consumable alcohol
    2. a racist term for the offspring of two specific cultural groups
    3. an insect that can ruin your day
    4. yet another term for a guy's berries, nads, noogs, tykes, kids, etc.

    What's a tick?

It's a flee-like insect which is pretty much harmless, but very annoying.
