can anyone find any spelling or grammatical errors here?
    ---

I had a certain reason to care more about John, my youngest brother, than the three others. Although it happened at a time when I was too young to know anything about it, I heard the story a plenty of times.
It was all Emma’s fault. Emma was a fourteen year-old girl, who took care of the four boys, and every afternoon she took them for a walk. Except on sundays. One cold afternoon in the(?) fall, they came back for tea as usual - I always stayed at home - and then we found out that John was missing.
Mum was worried, of course. Edward told me she was swinging her arms, looking funny. “Where did you see him last?” “Which of the the others saw him last?” “Did you hold him by his hand?” “Why did you not keep an eye on him?” Mum asked Emma all these questions without waiting for the answer.
Two days passed by, before a policeman showed up with the little fellow. All that he was even able to tell us was, that he had spotted some animals and had gone far away. He had not been able to tell any information to the policeman who found him, except that his name was Barney or Marney, and he lived in the black house. That was because the house next door had been painted, making our house look dirty.

    thx

I had a certain reason to care more about John, my youngest brother, than the three others.
    I´d change this one.
More like "I had more a reason/had a reason to look after/care for my youngest brother John, (rather) than three other ones".
    Just change that.

All right now, son, I want you to get a good night's rest. And remember, I could murder you while you sleep.
Hey son, I bought you a puppy today after work. But then I killed it and ate it! Hahah, I´m just kidding. I would never buy you a puppy.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    unsure about this punctuation ,
    is it more like:

One cold afternoon in the(middle of?) fall, they came back home for tea, as usual I was there. It was then that we found out that John was missing.

    Don't quote me on these.
