    Zhang San Feng 2005

Well, this wasn't very popular here last year, but we'll see if that has changed. Anyone going this year? I have a serious red-eye flight on Thursday and will be there by Friday (what is it with ZSF and the red-eye flights?)

    Ha!

That's cuz it's volunteer, meaning I make the same amount if one shows or if forty show. If forty show, it's a lot more work...

stillcoughing...so much for 'tao of health'...

I had caught a slight cold on Tuesday, exacerbated by some allergy meds I'm on, and by the time I had to board the plane on Friday, I was sick as a dog. I'm sure my airplane neighbors loved my coughing fits. Anyway, the 2nd leg of my Oakland>Dallas>Newark flight, got cancelled and I got rerouted through O'hare, where I experienced two flight delays. A 9-hour in-transit expanded to a 15 hour nigthmare and by the time I arrived, my cough sounded like a barking walrus after a harsh crack hit. I coughed so hard that I popped a blood vessal in my eye (and old injury from a finger jab I took sparring in High School, beleive it or not). Not good for any event for me, because I have to do a lot of talking and it's hard to have a conversation that way. Plus I was scheduled to do two workshops, one on writing (where I had to talk a lot, of course, thank God for microphones) and one on Xingyi sword. The Xingyi sword one was at the end, and I was pretty exhausted. My Tiger Claw cohorts, Rand Cardwell and Chris Peanut-Butter-Train, were loading out when I finished, and we took off immediately after but I did get to shake hands with the man, the myth, Dale Dugas on my way out. Dale, I wish we could have talked a little longer, but I'm glad we at least touched base.

Anyway, you'll be able to read my 'official' review in our next issue going into production, the NOV/DEC 2006. Until next year....

Nice to meet you in PA Gene!

    Gene,

It was great to meet up with you in PA. Love the hair!

Dr. Painter kicked my arse for the week.

Off to digest the material presented.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

    Hey Dale!

Yes, I'm scheduled to be there. Jim's been after me to do another writing workshop and another sword workshop, but I'm leaning towards doing a xingyi spear one instead of the sword.

    Gentlemen,

You have both given me 3 more reasons to attend the festival again this year, can not wait. Last year was my first time there and Gene's seminars were outstanding, I was the heavy set Navy guy who is still attempting Xingyi, beem checking the sight regularly fort registration info. And I have been reading alot on the yahoo groups posted by Mr. Dugas so I am definitely interested in his seminars also. Already dropped my leave chit for June, looking forward to it.

Sorry to hop on this chat,

    V/R

    Zhang Sang Feng 2008

    Brothers and Sisters,

This years Zhang Sang Feng is going to be great as they have relocated the festival to a resort with luscious grounds and everyone will have ac in the hotel rooms.

I will be teaching workshops on Shuai concepts found in Baguazhang and other arts as well as Dit Da For Martial Artists. Our own lord of Qi Gene Ching will be teaching Shaolin Eight Brocade Qigong.

For more information on the new locale and other instructors and presenters visit:

    http://www.taichifest.com/home/index...129&Itemid=206

It was great meeting up with some KFOers last year and I look forward to seeing more people this year.

    be well, train hard

    Dale Dugas

P.S. Make sure to take a gander at my recent article on Iron Palm for MMA in the new issue of Kung Fu Qigong Magazine...

    lord of Qi?

The Zhang San Feng Festival is the only place where I teach martial arts publicly nowaday (although my master Yan Fei is trying to get me to take over warm-ups and lead drills again - I'm trying to decline courteously). I lead writing workshops mostly, not just for publication - writing as an adjunct to training (as in journal keeping etc.) I'm leading one at ZSF, as always.
