    How does BJJ practicioners go about bring their opponent to the ground? Throws?

    Its a jedi mind trick.

    The one thign I like about grapplers is that they know to mount an attack unlike most stands up I know. Its all about counters and anti-counters =P

    Although some of these may be from wrestling as there is a lot of cross-training there...

    Single and double leg takedows.
    Clinching then wriggling to a takedown position.
    If you're dumb enough to let them catch a foot...
    Sweeps (usually from clench) and trips (often from the ground)
    Armbars
    I'm sure there are plenty more.

    Most often it will either but a shoot or a throw or sweep from the clinch. Basically whatever gets you on the ground. If BJJ has a weak point it is in two areas one being stand up striking and the other which is a bigger weakness is takedowns. I think that is one of the big reasons why wrestlers are doing so well in MMAs.-ED
