Yeah but they were the elite of the times, they were the nobility, if you look at all the UK nobility they can trace their line, heritage, back to the Norman conquest but not beyond, sure they bred with European nobility over the coming centuries, but certainly not with the English, therefore the Normans had no impact on the Gene pool, it is well documented that the English are of saxon/danish stock.

But think about it mate a small country like Italy did not have the population capacity to spread its genes across their empire, their empire was Britain, france, spain, germany, switerland, many eastern european countries, northern africa and beyond, je.sus that would need millions Italians changing the genetics of half the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Most of the armies were of origin from the countries they conquered, legionaries for example would be made citizens of Rome only after decades of service, the whole of the Roman cavalry was of gaulish or spanish celtic origin because of the immense equestrian celtic culture. Just like Britain changed the whole technolgical and political structure of India, there were no millions of Brits out there shagging Indians. Just like there were no millions of Italians in Britain or the rest of their empire shagging. The Italian Romans were the higherachy, the elite.
