My stance is too firm, I will never be taken down

Well, anyway we worked on leg seizing last night and I had a better chance at staying up than my classmates. In part, I'm sure it's because I'm a big, heavy guy (I outweighed Denzel, the next biggest in the room by about 20 lbs.) But I'm also the tallest, so my high center of gravity should be working against me. I do like horse stance and hindu squats and I walk all over the place (no car) so my legs are in pretty fine fettle. But even with a leg caught I could usually remain standing. I'm pretty pleased about the whole thing, and want to find a wrestler with a good single or double and see how I fare.

All right now, son, I want you to get a good night's rest. And remember, I could murder you while you sleep.
Hey son, I bought you a puppy today after work. But then I killed it and ate it! Hahah, I´m just kidding. I would never buy you a puppy.

Do so right away! You could develop some bad habits sparring with folks who suck at takedowns.

Heh, heh. That's when groin strikes, etc. come in handy. Soften 'em up & get their mind off their rooted stance...THEN throw.

CSN may be the first who can actually fend off a shot just by rooting!!!

CSN's technique is too deadly to spar with wrestlers.

well, being able to root is a start, and it might give decent wrestlers a puzzled look on their face at first. but the fact remains that you are gonna have to integrate footwork and sprawling to really stand a chance in the long run (okay, more like more than five seconds. push hands is a fun way to get into this, but yes, going against actual wrestlers is the best.

just hit them in the head. everyone knows grapplers don't train for that and they're totally susceptible to strikes while shooting in.

Who said anything about just by rooting? I admit I'm not training with folks who know their shot well, but I'm doing plenty of moving around and even my rasslin' ignorant version of sprawling also.

Plus of course pressure point attacks and one punch knock outs.

Seriously, every traditional art practioner will benefit by training with good grapplers. So good luck.

Well, with taiji influenced by shuai chiao, stand up grappling is about all I do. It's the floor-hugging someb@tches that I worry most about.
