    Workout? while I'm Sick?

I dunno if this question has been asked or not, but I've been sick for the past 3 days.
    Should I workout while I have a cold/flu?
Will it boost my immune system?

I've heard if the sickness is in the neck or above then you can workout. But if you feel crappy like you have the flu or something then don't. You might also get pneumonia.

I would say don't work out when you're sick, but above is just what I've heard people say.

    Common sense

If you're weaker because of illness then your body is telling you you can't cope with normal activity and you need to take it easy. Wehen it comes to colds and flu's and you're thinking of doing respiratory based training, do you treally think you're gonna make it better by putting under a strain that it is already weakened by?
When you're healthy correct exercise pulls your body on the positive gradient and makes it even more healthy (I know this is a generalisation) but when you're ill execess activity pulls it more towards ill health in general terms. The body is low on energy and it can't take it and so you wear the body down, which a) weakens the body and b) slows down the healing process.

No. Your body is already trying to repair itself from this virus. It wouldn't be smart to make it try to recover from a workout too.

i was just wondering, when you start getting really hot when your ill thats your body trying to kill of the bug because they can only survive at a certain temperature (i think). if you did some hard cardio work, and really get your body temp up wouldn't that help? maybe just wrapping up warm is the better option though.

I don't know off the top of my head what the mechanics are behind a fever and if the fever itself is what fights infection or if the fever is just a side effect of things going on in the body that are fighting infection. This being said, it's hard to say whether raising you core temperature would help, but I do know that I have never once had a doctor tell me or anyone else I know that when they are sick, they should try to make themselves really hot...

That combined with the fact that your body will then have to fight the infection and also recover from a cardio session would lead me to believe that again, it is not a good idea.

Best thing to do is lay up in bed, drink lots and lots of water/gatorade, and eat some oranges.

And stop smoking out of broken crack pipes ****it. I told you itll get you nothing but sick, and chicks definately dont dig cut lips.

I've heard of some people taking really hot showers when they have a fever. It's supposed to raise your body temp even more to help kill the virus. I've tried it but it didn't really do anything, like make me better. It did feel kinda good tho. Be very careful if you're going to do this... if you're sick you're probably already dehydrated and being in a hot shower won't help much, so drink a lot of water before hand.

Like I said tho, when I did it it didn't really do anything.

Couple of weeks ago I was very very ill. I had a 103 fever.
I took a hot shower. I began to hallucinate, and I had a 104 fever when I got out.
    Not a good idea.

SanSoo Student I would suggest getting under alot of covers, what will happen is your body temperature will go up and the fever will drop like a bad habit.

I was told to do this once when I had a fever and it went down real fast, I was literally sweating buckets. Do this for awhile and then take your temperature.

Just dont put your head under the covers SunnyBoy

Meat Shake, what were your hallucinations of?

    SanSoo Student,

If you're doing anything, make sure you drink enough water. Having a fever can dehydrate you enough, so anything you do to help make yourself hotter will make it worse. Drink drink drink, and be careful.

Not a good idea to work out. As others have said...rest, get plenty of fluids. You should attempt to bring you fever down, not increase it. Get better

I was under the influence of my 102 fever when I posted this and did not try to exercise, and now I feel better since I am taking some new drugs to help my sickness.
