    This site is slow recently

Hey, I'm on DSL and everything else is fast, but it seems like over the past few months this site has gotten slower. In fact, with DSL it loads about as fast as it did when I had dialup.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this.

    Thanks.

Indeed. Takes a good 3 minutes to load up, no matter what part of the site I'm getting on.

I've got a cable connection, by the by.

try change the time you log on

I've noticed that when a lot of people are on, it does take longer, so try logging on when there is less usage. But also, the forum is getting bigger and could probably use some pruning.

Must be all those page-long signatures trying to load.

Not so much. Generally, unless I've recently changed my sig, I have the "Don't Display Signatures" thingie clicked, so I never have to read them if I don't want to.

    pruning

Unfortunately, this forum does not have a very good automated pruning system, so it has to be done by hand. That takes a long, long time. Our previous system has all sorts of whistles and bells for quick pruning. I'd love to get rid of all the old chatter that's OT and outdated announcements, but I want to preserve the good stuff of course.

Maybe you could get some moderators to do a search of their respective forums and hack off the dead wood.

I'd like to see the post counts of some of the guys that hang out in ORA after the brink of death thread gets cut.

    speed vs. whistle & bells

What do you want from your forum - faster movements or fancier techniques? What would you want from your martial arts?
