I read somewhere on this forum...

that Acupunturists in California are considered primary health carers. Is this the case everywhere in the US? Is Acupuncture that widely accepted?

I also heard that to practice Acupuncture in the US you had to be medically qualified (degree in medicine). Is this correct?

    Just curious :)

i believe as far as practicing Accupuncture goes (this could be changed), the states govern. so the requirments depend on state.

    acupuncturists...

    Abandit,

yes. In California acupuncturists are primary healthcare providers. The liscencing in the US is regulated by the states - in some states you need to pass a state regulated exam, in others you need the national exam, in others you must practice under the supervision of an MD, in others you need nothing.

Most MD's who practice in the states are only required to take a 150-200 hour course on acupuncture. Some are responsible and take the 2000-3000 hours that acupuncturists are required to take, some don't.

Definitely check into the training of any medical professional anywhere...

    hope the info helps,

    Justin
