Is JKD too advanced for beginners?

Just wondering what are your thoughts on this topic. Every CMAists who cross train, that I've come across, think that an individual needs to have a foundation in something before venturing into crosstraining, or eclecitc arts.

Bruce Lee had 5 years in WC before having his epiphany, furthering their argument.

What do you think? Do you think a beginner should train a traditional art first, or do you think it's doesn't matter, that JKD and it's concepts are simple enough for a beginner to grasp?

I trained in WC for 3 years before recently starting to train JKD.
Having a reference point can be useful but I certainly dont think its essential.

JKD has nothing to do with the seperations you speak of. Training, learning and generally anything related to gaining skill of any kind has to do specifically with the individual person, their actual teacher and training partners, and the relationships between them over time. Not to mention hard work.
