Can't argue there! One of my first broken noses was given to me by one of my sisters. I also have a nice collection of "claw mark" scars up and down my arms.

Don't want this to come off poorly

But the reason I asked is because some of the women posters made it sound like the men they were dating felt insecure.... I wanted to know if this is some sort of self delusion by the female practioners or if they were phsically stronger than the men or are they simply well trained martial artists with experience to back up their notion that they could beat a fully resisting man of average size.

One of the greatest martial artists I know is a small young lady of about 107lbs .... she has more ability and skill than I can ever obtain; she lives at her master's school and trains all day every day. She can strike harder than 85% of the male martial artists I know.

With all of that said, she is still limited to what she can do to a fully resisting grown man. However, put a weapon in her hand and she won't be beat. I have watched her take down a group of men in full contact fencing (wood swords).

when I meant insecure, I meant emotionally, not physically. Some men are simply intimidated by women who are strong of spirit.

I train quite a bit and am very fit. I could certainly get away from most men, and I could probably beat some of them, but I agree with the generalization that purely hand to hand, most women won't beat a fully resisting average size male opponent.

I have trained with a woman who would fight anyone at the drop of a hat. She was big and very talented at MA. She'd go toe to toe with men bigger than her and she'd be the only one walking away more often than not. I witnessed it myself on a couple of occasions.

    Actually I do .... it's my master's daughter. She's extremely cute but she's a strong one.

The thing that impresses me most about her, besides her punching power, is that she can swipe the hair in her face with her foot while standing the way I would with my hand .... she's very talented.
    ...

Ming Yue, I hope you weren't offended by my post. I don't think so by your honest reply, which also leads me to believe you are quite a good martial artist.... knowing our physical limitations is important, so we can focus on your strenghts (strategy/technique) to overcome them.

Strong and talented don't bother me none

When I look for a partner (relationship, not sparring/training )
I tend to look for an equal; someone who has a strong spirit, and usually who tends to physical activities. A martial arts woman is awesome . . . unless you date within your school. That's just not fun. But, I digress.

If you ant, go ahead and send me her number, I'm sure within five minutes of alking to her, I can convince her to come on down to the Deep Fried South . . . or convince her to ne'er step foot out of state again. I'm still working on that part.

A hardcore chick is always cool, but there are limitations... Like if your woman is smarter than you, every single time you try to lie your way out of trouble, youll get caught. Thats no good.

    Sorry Vash

She is my senior, a disciple and my master's daughter .... can't just give out her digits like that. But if you're ever in NYC give me a ring and I'll bring ya by the school.

As for the other sex, I like someone with a strong spirit but someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously.... I've learned that side interests aren't that important.

I taught my last girlfriend to surf and though it was great -- and it was -- but what a pain in the ass. Strong willed? Yes! But cranky as hell about everything.

The girl I'm seeing now is very intelligent and sweet and knows what she's talking about but is open and kind of silly. I tend to be active, wanting to surf or fish ect. She tends to want to nap. So we compromise and bike to lunch and maybe I'll go for a quick surf and then jump in bed for a nap.

So far, so good. Got to say, she has brought back that little kid joy into my life.... a good woman..... and at 25, five years younger than me

My question: Have any of you gone out with someone who seemed interested in you, but constantly berated you for being covered with bruises and/or having other misc. small injuries? Object to you sometimes smelling like jow?
    something similar

I read an article on primate interaction (can't quite remember the specific species now). when a female primate reach the age of reproduction, the male will act uninterested. display overt aggression, intimidate the female primate. basically, gain a psychological edge which is used later to get sexual favors.

whether this explains what you experience is questionable, but sometimes it would seem man have not evolve too far.

I think you might be on to something there. You have also given me an idea. The individual in question is still trying to get me to go out with him again. My kwoon is haveing a charity demo this week-end followed by an open class. We get to bring people who don't practice our style, or any MA for that matter. I think I will invite him. Maybe he will get the hint as to why I was offended by his cute comment.

Becca... neat idea... let us know how it went.

Personally, I have found women to be very capable fighters, especially those who are well versed in the internal arts. In the past, some of my female students have turned out to be among the better trained students.... Bottom line, I think it really goes back to the individual. They make the art effective. A deadly martial art can be powerless if poorly executed.

But.... women are really TOUGH soccer players. And those kicks in the shin HURT !!!
The more you know, the more you find you don't know...
