    Two squat workouts in 24 under 24 hours

    The Bulgarians would be proud of me

    5'9" and 164lbs @ 9% bf (approx)

    Last night @ 9pm
    Squat: 250 x 5, 225 x 5 (ass to the ground, of course)
    Bench: 225 x 5, 205 x 5
    Weighted Pullups: 70lbs on a belt x 5, 35lbs on a belt x 5 (a little wider than shoulder width grip, palms facing away, to back of head the correct way, as opposed to back of head the incorrect way).

    Today @ 4:30pm
    Squat: 255 x 5, 230 x 5 (ass to ground)
    Bench: 230 x 5, 210 x 5
    Weighted Pullups: 75lbs on a belt x 4 (failure), 40lbs on a belt x 5

    I think I'm making good gains since my old squat PR for reps was 240 x 4 (on the box) on 5/24/04.

    Usually I wait 24 hours between workouts, tho, when I'm on this routine. Circumstances today, however, caused me to have to workout earlier.

    I'm so pumped. The squats today were not to failure despite being a new 5RM PR. Tomorrow I probably can't make it to the gym, but Sunday I'm hoping to get 260 x 5 in squat and 235 x 5 in bench.

    My short term goal is a double bodyweight squat of 330. Right now my PR is 300. I'm hoping to get a pic of me doing the 330. Well, actually my first short term goal is 315, because that's 3 plates on each side and all So I guess my second short term goal is double bodyweight.

    I just realized I've been lifting in 20-24 hour marks. I'm on a 3 day training schedule and I do PTP 2 out of the three days. So take last 3 days.
    Fri, PTP: 11am.
    Sat: PTP 10am.
    Sun: rest.
    then it'll be
    monday: PTP: probably 11am or 12pm
    Tue:PTP at like 9 or 10am
    wed: rest

    so it ranges I guess from 20-25 hours depending ont he days really. Sometimes I wake up early and hit the gym at 8am, other days its 1pm. Is it bad to do PTP within a 24 hour period?

    and jeez man, I thought you were way ahead of me in the weights.
    your squats got a lot more, but the bench isn't far off. Are you at the start of a cycle?
    I still don't know my maxes because I'm usually alone at the gym and always scared to go a lot of weight thinking I'm gonna hurt myself.

    Chains, chains, chains, Iron! I got 275 x 4 on bench last week. 275 @ lockout, that is . Reduces to about 255 @ the bottom. Give 'em a try sometime. They're pretty fun.

    I'm impressed by the pullups. I suck at BW stuff and I haven't done weighted pullups for a while while I wait for my shoulder to fix. I only ever did 22lb extra on pullups. Plus I do them by lifting my chin over, although pronated like you.

    I think my squat is done now. The bench wasn't as hard as the squat today, but I don't want to keep it going for one exercise.

    And since I finished pullups on Friday, today I just decided to see how many I could do at once. I got 15 wide grip, pull to the back of the neck pullups. These are real, full range pullups. Not that only-go-down-half-way crap that a lot of people do. Kind of like how my squats and bench are all full range. Why do some people stop the bar like 4 inches of their chest when they bench?

    Why are you doing pullups behind the neck? I don't see how that is better than front of the neck

    To the front feels weird to me. Behind feels more natural. But when I say "behind" the neck, I'm actually tilting my head all the way forward and pulling the bar down to touch my neck. It's not really "behind" the neck because the bar wouldn't fit there if I didn't lean my head forward. More like "back of the neck." But my hands are in line with my shoulders when I'm at the top, which isn't possible if you don't lean your head forward.

    well, whenever I do it in front of the neck, I feel some work in the chest, but behind the neck, I feel work in the shoulders/traps. I personally dont think the behind the neck is exactly safe. but thats just imo.

    It's safe if you do it the way I described. Your hands and arms are actually f.arther forward than they are when you're holding a barbell for squats.

    Hey Iron, I just noticed your bench. Good work. I think you could 1rm @ 275 now.
