18 Hands of Lohan

Has anyone seen a video (on the Internet) of this form being done? Would someone who knows the form mind filming themselves and uploading? Im really curious about the differences between styles, since a lot of CMA say they have this form.

lohan, 18 hands, etc etc... all generic to buddhist kungfu.

in some cases it is delivered and practiced as qigongs. In others it is done more like a martial art form...

No one has any original material and so to fill the void for the masses, people revive these things and attach these names to them.

THis is not to say it's bad, just to say that you will not find 2 the same in two different schools.

All the arhat boxig and lohan performance as sets or chi kungs are different.

The similarities will only be evident where one has learned from another, or has co-opted from another, but the original stuff just no longer exists.

That's how kungfu is.

The reason im asking this, is because my style also has an "18 Hands" form. My instructor once visited a school of another style, and they also had an "18 Hands". They both performed, and were both shocked at how similar they were. I was wondering if anyone else could show me theirs/other styles version, just so I could compare.

each is different, but they are all named the same.

the qigongs will have similarity. But as a form, I don't think there is a total concensus across all schools as to what the original shape was.

There's also a ton of information on where they came from, of course the bodhidharma story is in there, and even some about the actual 18 lohans, etc etc.

All of those were on the QiGong Lohan set, though. What about the sets that were made for pure martial purposes? Are there any? Thats mainly what I was looking for, but the links sparked up some questions to ask my Sifu.
