Comparing Dallas to Houston is SOOOO Apples to Oranges.
Dallas - decent Mass Transit - NOW.... Upscale things with lots of money. Traditionally, it was where oil was traded - along with other things. You do have the metroplex area - meaning you take Dallas AND Fort Worth as your playground. You then have things like the Kimball Art Museum in FW...and the Stockyards....and you have Deep Ellum and such along with the state Fair Grounds in Dallas.
Houston - depends what you want...better selection of Chinese Martial Arts...Chinese Culture - better restaurants for Asian food. The downtown theater district has grown to actually surpass Dallas...but Dallas won't admit it.
Houston is 3 hours from Austin or San Antonio or New Braunfels. Dallas is 3 hours from Austin...but 4+ from San Antonio and New Braunfels.
Traffic in Dallas...used to be better than Houston...now it is worse. roads in Dallas make more sense...they run north south/ east west instead of the angles that Houston has...and don't even try to figure out how you can be on one road in Houston, like Memorial drive...then make NO turns and suddenly you are on Texas, then Harrisburg, then Broadway....and you have gone from basically travelling east...to travelling southwest....
Better access to CMA weapons in Houston as well. Dallas has Lang Son Traders in Arlington...but they get their stuff from Beijing Imports in Houston.
DFW area has Six Flags, Waterworld, the ball park and other amusement park things.
More lakes in the DFW area....Houston has Galveston and Surfside...and a shorter drive to Corpus Christi.

Austin and San Antonio beat both. Dallas feels too much like oklahoma and everyone in houston hates the world.

Not really...you are just in Dallas proper...get out to the metro area...and I DON'T mean Plano....and you will have a typical East Texas feel.
The snooty areas are still snooty...but over the past few years, a bunch from up north moved in...and brought their manners (or lack thereof) with them.
Fort Worth is STILL a cowtown...but one with a great art scene....
