    Fan Xu Dong

Can anyone please provide any concrete dates on the lifespan of the Qi Xing Tang Lang Master(5th generation. I believe) Fan Xu Dong(Cantonese dialect......Fan Yuk Tung). From
my research, it appears that he was a contemporary of Wong Fei Hung(1847-1924)... I have read that he was born in the 21st year of the "Daoguang" reign (1820-1850), which I would tentatatively deduce as the year 1841. However, if this is true, wouldn't that make him older than his teacher Wang Rong Sheng(Cantonest dialect...Wong Wing Sang)? Did Fan Xu Dong use NPM(7*) when he was in the Russian Fighting Competition in 1875? I realize that I am asking quite a few questions, I thank all in the forum their continued patience. Please excuse my ignorance.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

The late HK Seven Star Master Wong Hon Fun once wrote in an article:

In the Spring of the 24th year of the Republic, Grandmaster Fan Xudong passed away in his hometown at the age of 95 years old.

"24th year of the Republic" would be 1936. Fan Xudong was then born in the year 1841 (21st year of the reign of Emperor Daoguang).
