Didn't you read the story. It was from a shot-for-shot competition.

Yeah shot for shot is just that.

You stand there and punch the guy as hard as you can, then he does it back to you and the first one to quit loses.

Usually you punch each other in the arm/shoulder.

Not quite that bad, but I've had some similar bruises from catching a gate while ski racing at around 60 mph.

    What's a spiral fracture?

I've seen a picture of a bodybuilder who tore his triceps tendon and he had some brusing like that, too. I'll see if I can find the article/picture if you guys want.

we'd had an 18" snowfall 2 days before (I know, not much compared to CO but this is south of the mason dixon on the east coast) and had scraped most of the parking lots to the condos but were getting another 1-2" every night after.

I was walking accross a parking lot that had an inch of new snow over black ice.

I swear the toes on my right foot were pointing at my left knee, but after spinning around the back way.

a spiral fracture is just that: that bone splits in a spiral around the center line of the bone. In my case it was 2 splits. The tricky part was that the fracture went into the joint at the ankle.

The doc decided that due to the incredibly dense musculature of my lower leg he didn't need to set pins or anything and put me in a walker cast.

well, not really. the walker cast part is true and he didn't even have to set it. there was much more soft tissue damage that has plagued me more than the break did, but the xray is real pretty.

but, man, did I scream like a little ***** as I was laying there in the parking lot.

    some nice pics
