Arsin Lupine

It is a french film... my version did not have English subtitles but fortunately: Je parle une petit peu de francais pas de bien.

The main character is a jewel theif, savate defense expert, acrobat and master of disguise. It's set in turn of the century France and is full of intrigue, strange characters, mystery and a hint of magic. The camera work is excelent (unlike certain thai movies I know) and the story (though convoluted) is entertaining.

The fight scenes certainly don't dominate the film (this being a French film after all) but on the other hand Lupine uses Savate Defense regularly throughout the film to overcome obstacles including knife wielding masked men and gun toting lunatics who hold secrets to his tragic past. All in all a thoroughly satisfying movie and a bit easier to understand than Seven Swords.
