The Immortal or The Warrior

    Hi All,

I am looking to buy a mook jong within the next month or so. I like both
The Immortal Dummy

    (http://www.immortal-usa.com/) and
The Warrior Dummy
(http://www.thewarrior.com/). There is only about $100 difference in price, so that is not a factor.

Do any of you have an opinion on either of these?

Both of these have their Pros and Cons. I have a friend that has the Warrior model and LOVES it because of the expandability. He's into Kali and a big stickfighter and loves all of the extra targets on one piece of equipment. The downside is the PVC construction... doesn't feel as solid to me.

The Immortal sounds like the perfect unit to have in the back yard training space since you don't have to worry about splitting, etc. I don't know how durable it actually is, though. On a normal wooden dummy you can replace the arms if you crack 'em. I don't know that the Immortal features interchangable parts.

    Hi All,

Don't know anything about either. Still from taking a quick look I would most likely opt for the Immortal. Looks closer to the traditional and I like the name

If you want a more traditional wooden dummy there are plenty of companies which make pretty good wooden dummies. One of my old students bought his from:
    www.cougarmountain.com
and he has a free standing model with a portable stand. I don't really like it as there is almost no play in the dummy, seems more like a dead dummy than a live one. Still, it is good for training certain aspects and it does not put holes in the wall.

You could also check ou the Great Lion Company. I have heard some good things about them as well. Or go to www.wingchun.org and there is a link that will take you to supplies which will list several dummy providers.

But, if the choice were between these two I would go for the Immortal.

    Peace,

    Dave
