    could this be true?

I can't find a single research article on the antioxidant properties of luo han kuo.
I suspect this is a sales link...

    Greetings,

Presently, small fruits and berries are getting a lot of attention because of their strong antioxidant properties. herb ox, there is a comparison to antioxidant properties of other fruits if you check the sidebar.

When I first saw this site, I thought the sellers were trying to cover up that they were selling amla fruit-- it looks very much like it. Amla fruit has over 20 times the vitamin C that an orange has. If Lo Han Kuo had been compared with amla, it would have come in a very distant second.

This is not to say that Lo Han Kuo is a lousy product; it is just one of a new wave of high antioxidant fruits gaining attention these days

    of amla and ayurveda

Thanks for the comment, Mickey. Speaking of amla, I recently found a preparation called "chyawanprash", a tasty tonic paste made with amla and at least 25 other ayurvedic ingredients - I'd like to have a cross reference for ayurvedic herbs and chinese herbs - do you know of such a resource?

As for the 'sultan's paste', it seems to be having an effect on me lately, but I'd still like to know what sort of overall effect it is having on my body i.e., warming, cooling, engendering fluids, etc. Do you have experience with chyawanprash?

    Hi herb ox,

I did not know of such a book until after you made the inquiry. I did a small search:

I hope that either book will be helpful to you.

Re: chayawanprash. Never tried it. How does it work for you? Edit: I did a search on this-- I see you are already on to the same thing. I have yet to try amla itself, but I am going to try this product. Thank you for the info.

Here is a breakdown for one brand of chyawanprash:

Anyone have any experience with Young Living's Berry Young Juice? It has wolfberry, pomegranate, and other strong antioxidents. I have heard only good things about it, but would like your input.

    Hello TenTigers,

I have not heard of this product. If I remember correctly, wolfberry helps the kidneys. The other ingredients seem fine and suggest a natural sweetness; such that would require the addition of water to make absorption more effective. If it has additional sugar or corn syrup, which it should not need; or, has been pasteurized, I would be a little suspect.
