    The Robot Mind

A training partner is a person who can feed you a variety of attacks, at a variety of speed and strength levels starting from a variety of distances. These are fed at both predictable and unpredictable times starting from a variety of positions. (I wonder if I got all the parameters?).

If we had a robot doing this, then it might have six physical or software control knobs on it in this case. In training with this a robot, if we got hit, then we wouldn’t normally get angry at the robot. Instead, we might get upset with ourselves and try again. We might tone down the attack to a lower level. Maybe there is a control knob number 7 for level or a smart robot may be self-adjusting and would adjust the level according to the success of our responses.

With a person taking the place of the robot, we often get our anger directed not at ourselves but instead take it out on our training partner. Perhaps we should always think of our training partner as this robot whose job it is to just feed us attacks. If we get hit then the only fault is our own. Then we would never have angry flare-ups, escalated fights and bad feelings. Training would in fact be safer if our training partner were as smart as the theoretical robot and could adjust the attack according to our ability. This assumes we train against much higher-level human opponents.

I don't think Wing Chun is so limited that I can't do it when I wrestle, box, kickbox, or fight by MMA rules, nor am I so limited a student that I can't improve by training in each of those forums. -Andrew S

A good instructor encourages his students to question things, think for themselves and determine their own solutions to problems. They give advice, rather than acting as a vehicle for the transmission of dogma.

    Lawrence,

I wonder if the above scientist is a bachelor. It would explain many things. Also I contend that he is more of an artist proven beyond any shadow of a doubt of this magnificient work. I fear woman now may have a very bleak future if these androids become the main trend to stay of our WC civilization.

Hardly. They'll be producing robot clones of themselves to control us while we're out trying to enjoy ourselves at sporting events or hanging with our mates down the pub. Not to mention getting nagged and backseat driven in stereo or quadrophonic.

(jeez, I hope none of my wife's robot clones are monitoring this forum )

Some of the best training I have received came by way of 'angered' training partners.

Some of the worst training came by way of Wing Chun 'robots' (slaves to the system).

    Anerlich,

Your sharp-witted analysis points out brilliantly that Yin power is indeed omnipotent and omnipresent. I’m glad that our founder is from the winning side. Yang power is no match for Yin-pecked cunning craftiness

We might tone down the attack to a lower level. Maybe there is a control knob number 7 for level or a smart robot may be self-adjusting and would adjust the level according to the success of our responses.

    >> No way dude, this is so wrong! when your partnered with someone the thing is its COACHING your partner. i dont want a dummy for a partner i want one whos gonna coach your skills up, then you return the favour. The 7th knob is the human factor, smart self-adjusting, gets to know YOU and who you are and how you learn.

With a person taking the place of the robot, we often get our anger directed not at ourselves but instead take it out on our training partner.

    >> If i got hit by a robot over and over id get real ****ed off at it and probably take a bat to the robot, if its your training buddy and they are being kind and training you you dont get angry at them even when you get hit. theyre doing you a favor. only if your partner is a **** and just beating you up then you should get ****ed off at them! a good club atmosphere everyone helps each other no matter whos better or worse, what goes around comes around.

Perhaps we should always think of our training partner as this robot whose job it is to just feed us attacks.

    >> perhaps the otherway round! treat your partner like a robot or even a doggy when your doing the coaching, so hit em when they get it wrong and give em a treat (like say 'good') when they do good. one of the best people at my mma club to train with when he's coaching all you can hear is him saying 'good, good, gooood, no got it wrong, nope, better, there you go, goood, gooood!' if you just listened to him youd think he was teaching a little doggy tricks, but everytime i go with him i can actually feel my skills got better

If we get hit then the only fault is our own.

    >> same if its a human or a robot. but you shouldnt think its a fault, getting hit is good cos you learn from it and hopefully get better. again if you got a partner whos an ass getting hit sucks again what goes around comes around, you gotta have a good club, good atmosphere, good people who want to bring everyones level up.

Then we would never have angry flare-ups, escalated fights and bad feelings. Training would in fact be safer if our training partner were as smart as the theoretical robot and could adjust the attack according to our ability. This assumes we train against much higher-level human opponents.

    >> If you have angry flare ups escalated fights bad feelings its all gone BAD!!! And sheeet a real training partner should be MUCH MUCH smarter than any robot, and the higher-level bit is boolsheet too, training with a higher level parter is safer anyway as they know how and not to hurt you, and also you can still coach someone up even if they're better than you, maybe ask them how and what they want to work on.

problem (and i think it might be worse with wing chun) is people sometimes think cooperate means do drills like a dance routine, and fight means try to beat the other person, what i thinks better than 'cooperate' or 'fight' is 'cooperate-fight'. haha if i try any harder ill start saying ying and yang and get all lovey dovey and esoteric!!!

so yay down with robot partners up with real people!!! (for those who watch the fast show, doing martial arts partner work is like making love to a beautiful woman...) jeeez i feel like ive written an essay but this is something i think is reaaly really important!!! i get your point though, i would have loved a dan-chi-bot, maybe like a jack-in-the box with a boxing glove on the end!!

    cheers!

Anyone who has tried to install troublesome software of fix a recalcitrant car would disagree strongly with the above. The number of times I've wanted to launch errant computer equipment out of a high-storey window Led Zeppelin TV style are incalculable.

Astribot S1 is pushing the boundaries of robotics with its unparalleled agility and dexterity.
    Stardust Intelligence

Ever thought of a machine that could take care of your pet, clean houses, perform exercises alongside you, play music, and, most importantly, do some kitchen chores?

Well, congratulations! Your dream has turned into reality. A new robot assistant called Astribot S1 smartly performs these tasks.

The S1 robot assistant is claimed to have unparalleled agility, dexterity, and accuracy, which help it perform all kinds of tasks.

Launched by Stardust Intelligence, a Chinese company, the robot has a human-like upper body structure mounted on a wheeled base.

Robot is seen accurately serving tea in a cup

During its first technical demonstration, the robot was seen folding clothes, sorting items, flipping pans while cooking, vacuuming, and cup stacking, attracting widespread attention in the industry.

Presented in a complete form in a new video, the robot is seen accurately serving tea in a cup. If you are feeling sad and want to listen to any music, the innovative machine can play musical instruments as well.

It can also be a perfect competitor in basketball, as the robot is seen accurately shooting the basket.

S1 robot showcases intelligent planning and superior operation

At normal speed (commonly 3 to 10 times speed in the industry), S1 can be described as intelligent and versatile, showcasing intelligent planning and superior operation in long sequence tasks such as food preparation, brewing Kung Fu tea, and instrument performance, reported Pandaily.
The robot is seen performing multiple tasks in a controlled environment, and the company claims that real-world performance and adaptability remain to be tested.

    Robot mimics human physical interaction

Powered by Stardust Intelligence’s design for AI architecture, the robot has an AI system integrated with advanced hardware. It helps the machine learn and interact with its environment.

Designed to mimic human decision-making and physical interaction, the robot can handle tasks that would traditionally require human dexterity and judgment.

The Astribot S1 is also capable of dynamic and agile physical tasks, such as practicing Wing Chun martial arts or even making accurate basketball shots. These abilities highlight the robot’s agility and ability to manage complex sequences of motion, further cementing its position as a highly versatile AI assistant, reported Maginative.

Company to commercialize robot later this year

The company is expected to target research, commercial, and home applications while commercializing the robot later this year.

“Our vision is to provide several billion people with AI robotic assistants. Whether it’s taking care of the home or working in factories, the more robots learn, decide, and execute like humans, the more they can help people do more and do it better,” said CEO of Astribot, Lai Jie.

“Therefore, we welcome everyone to bring their demands to the S1, allowing its capabilities to grow from 55% and 85% to 99.99%, getting infinitely closer to human levels. We also hope that in the next five to ten years, AI robots will enter thousands of households.”
