OT Why very slooow load times sometimes?

Don't know where to post this, but how come sometime ( I'd say more than half the time I visit here) the load times are snail-like? It only happens on this particular site. Very strange....

Load times are slowed dependent on how many people are hitting how many pages at the same time on teh same sight.

If the load gets heavy, stuff slows down, if it's light, stuff speeds up.

Peak usage times will always be a little draggy.

Of course, there may be some heavy scripting that must be parsed before your page loads and sometimes the scripting can be the problem if it's written to chunkily.

This board is heavily used all day, every day by hundreds of members. there's gonna be times when you are naturally gonna get frustrated waiting 30 seconds instead of 2 for your page to load.

yu shan: if you're watching from work then your work place server could also be part of it.

I know the exact times when computer lab at the HS is going on because my internet access slows to a crawl.

we just need to get Gene to fork over the money to pay the new tolls they are talking about for internet access right of way.
"George never did wake up. And, even all that talking didn't make death any easier...at least not for us. Maybe, in the end, all you can really hope for is that your last thought is a nice one...even if it's just about the taste of a nice cold beer."

"If you find the right balance between desperation and fear you can make people believe anything"

"Is enlightenment even possible? Or, did I drive by it like a missed exit?"

    It's simpler than you think.
