    Xinyi Liuhe and Xingyiquan

Xinyi Liuhequan is the Henan Province branch of Xingyi, also known as "Ten animals Xingyi". It is mainly practiced by the chinese moslems. It doesn't have the Five elements forms, and they are only 10 animals in this system

Xingyiquan (Also known as "Five Element Xingyi)is divided into two branches, Shanxi and Hebei. It contains the 5 elements, and 12 animals

    Xin vs. Xing

All of the Xingyi styles around these days seem to have come from the Dai family, that originally called their style Xinyi (I think they still do). The Dai Family is in Shanxi province.

Li LuoNeng learned Xinyi from the Dai Family in Shanxi, and along with Che YiZhai, modified it. The new style was Xingyi, which split into the Hebei branch descended from Guo YunSheng, and the Shanxi branch, descended from Che YiZhai. Che YiZhai stayed in Shanxi, and continued to study from the Dai family.

One of the fundamental changes that Li LuoNeng introduced was making the 60/40 or santi stance the standard stance. If you look at Xinyi styles, they use bow stance quite a bit, whereas you typically only see bow stance in Xingyi in momentary transitions.

    Xinyi

While its true that most practitioners of Xingyi today train in a style derived from the teachings of Li louneng and the Dai's, there are still Xinyi Liuhe Quan practitioners out there.

This branch seems to come from Ji Longfeng through Ma Xueli (about 1714-1790). The association to the Dai family is uncertain, but this is the branch that was passed down through Hui or Moslem lines. This began to be taught outside the Moslem community by Lu Songgao (died 1962). Lu's disciple, Yu Hualong, is still alive and teaching in Shanghai. There is actually a Xinyi Liuhe Quan Association of Canada that represents this line (no web page exists).
