I think the biggest moral or chan of the story;
is that MA is application based.
How mantis grabs and deals with the stick from the student monk;
he copied and practiced with a wooden dummy.
A year later, winter, summer, fall again;
the student monk uses the mantis methods to grab and deal with the staff from the teacher monk who came back from a long trip of Hua Yuan.

Marvelous!!!! A great find.
I'd have to say that the chan was more about perserverence though.
Don't give up, you will find a way.
"George never did wake up. And, even all that talking didn't make death any easier...at least not for us. Maybe, in the end, all you can really hope for is that your last thought is a nice one...even if it's just about the taste of a nice cold beer."
"If you find the right balance between desperation and fear you can make people believe anything"
"Is enlightenment even possible? Or, did I drive by it like a missed exit?"
It's simpler than you think.
I could be completely wrong"
really cool vid, awesome.
Yes. I like it very much, too.
especially the teacher monk bowed to the student in the end.
the animation style was really good. I like that flavour, very old school.
the ch'an was the entire piece from start to end. It's a process.
Kung Fu is good for you.

We are always looking for ways/paths--
That was truly awesome, the music, the style, the soft pastel colors....it was all excellent
the beginning reminds me of the Ezine about sweeping leaves.
