This program is open to advanced wing chun students of all lineages (please note. I am using the term ‘wing chun’ for the entire system, and ‘Wing Tsung’ for Dai-Sifu Hans-Joerg Reimers’ system). We will keep the group small, so that Dai-Sifu Hans-Joerg can devote appropriate individual attention to all participants. He will cover the following topics:

• Circle of security
• Definition of force
• Wedge, center line and central line theory
• Angles, timing, aggression, accuracy
• Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu-Tze
• Chi-Sao, Biu-Tze-Chi Sao, Wooden Dummy Chi-Sao

Because of the individual and intimate nature of this session, the depth and width of the coverage of these topics will in major parts depend on your skill level and experience. Dai-Sifu Hans-Joerg Reimers will make sure that you take home those techniques and concepts that enhance your current understanding of wing chun and that you can apply these techniques and concepts within your own system.

Dai sifu is merely the oldest sifu, or highest ranking if you like.

Well, it is quite understandable that the term "dai sifu" is not widely understood...
The reason is that is a construct designed for a specific purpose and used by the EWTO or derivates of that organization.

To understand the implications of the term, it is neccessary to understand about the hierarchic nature of the EWTO and how it's motivational system works.

Now, the system consists of several levels, each one denoting a certain curricular progression but also som kind of status in the organization hierarchi - nothing wrong with that, after all it is supposed to be motivational (pros and cons of such a system are of course open to debate).

When the no. of schools affiliated with EWTO was small, the senior guys, the instructors not only had reached a certain grade in the system, but were granted the title of Sifu, provided of course that you can meet certain criteria, such as minimum training time, a certain no. of students, etc.

As the organization grew to immense proportions and too many people were reaching the higher levels, new ways of destinguishing the more senior guys from the junior guys, even though they have the same "grade". Many schemes were concocted, one of them being the introduction of the title of "Dai sifu", which indeed is supposed to mean "the most senior amongst the sifus".
To be eligible for this title, you must have a certain no. of students that have achieved "sifu status" themselves. If you really think about it, and the implications of such a title, things become rather silly - there are many obvious scenarios where the institutialization "family" terms, which are relative are changed to a sort of hierarchic title.

That's basically it, and I don't think this type of "title" is really used in organizations or martialarts systems outside the ones I have previously mentioned and hence most people not knowledgeable about them would recognize this term.

PS Jesper, you say you have trained WT since 1986 and that you frequented the WT headquarters in CPH and have good contact with the senior instructors there, correct? In that case I should know you... just curious...
