    Big Pile of Longfist Videos

Now that my Taiwanese teacher has come out with English versions for a couple of his Longfist DVDs, he gave me carte blanche to just rip whatever I want from them in order to give people a better idea of what they're like. I need to show some more of the movement and application breakdowns, but hopefully you get the idea. I'll be doing the same for his Mantis and Qigong DVDs when I get the chance.

Anyway, this is pretty much a full curriculum of basic to intermediate Longfist forms, beginning with some relatively new ones (lianbu, gongli and shaolin) that were created at the Nanjing institute and progressing to more traditional Islamic Longfist forms from Shandong. The only major one I couldn't get into a satisfactory clip was Shilu Tantui, but I'm sure you all know what that looks like anyway. Enjoy!

awesome vids! I've been looking for some traditional Longfist videos for sometime. Usually when you type "Longfist" on Youtube you get Wushu stuff. Ever since I was told about the variations on Gongliquan, I've been looking for videos on that too, usually to no avail. Thanks for sharing these!

I'm very interested in the Taizhu and Mizhong DVDs. Can you put a clip of Yanqing Toei up?

Yes, it is good to see these! Especially the Tai Tzu Long Fist. It's good that there is authentic Tai Tzu on the web, so the knobs that are doing modern Yang Taiji short forms, and think THAT is Tai Tzu, can see what the real thing is at least.
Those that are the most sucessful are also the biggest failures. The difference between them and the rest of the failures is they keep getting up over and over again, until they finally succeed.

Here's a few more. Hopefully this gives a better feel of the full content of the DVDs. That is, they aren't just performances, they include detailed descriptions of how to perform each move and include many explanations on how to perform them correctly and apply the moves.

    Yanqing-tui (performed by Huang Weixiu):

Bagua Single Sabre (unrelated to Bagua-zhang):

Taiwan has some great masters. I don't know if you saw the black and white clips of the Taiwanese masters they had on youtube, but that was the first time I saw how those deep horse stances were really used in combat. They were constantly taking little steps to change the angle as they did each successive technique or strike, and that's the only way I could see the deep horse stances being used effectively in combat.
I was on the metro earlier, deep in meditation, when a ruffian came over and started causing trouble. He started pushing me with his bag, steadily increasing the force until it became very annoying. When I turned to him, before I could ask him to stop, he immediately started hurling abuse like a scoundrel. I performed a basic chin na - carotid artery strike combination and sent him to sleep. The rest of my journey was very peaceful, and passersby hailed me as a hero - Warrior Man

It should just be "Yanqing's Leg Techniques." Yanqing (literally "swallow's blue") is the name of a character from Shuihuzhuan (Outlaws of the Marsh), famous for his martial abilities. Therefore, a lot of martial arts stuff is named after him, like Yanqing Dandao. Mizong-quan is even sometimes called "Yanqing-quan," though this form has nothing to do with Mizong-quan and Yanqing Dandao has little to do with Yanqing-tui.

Thanks Onyomi, that's a sweet little form. Always good to see something that's longfist but not too generic. Where do the Lian Bu and Gong Li clips come from? They're not listed on the DVD section of the site.
You know I nearly made a trip to Kung Fu Loung when I left university.

Lianbu, Gongli and Shaolin-quan, unfortunately are no longer for sale at Kung-fu Loung. They were part of an earlier project Zhou produced with a guy named Wei Ziyun and a company called "Funny Media." It's called "Zhongguo Wushu Mingquan Lu." ("A Record of Famous Chinese Martial Arts."). You may still be able to find it available online if you can read Chinese to sift through Yahoo auctions and what not. Because he wasn't happy with how they handled things, Zhou left that company to produce videos himself, which are the ones for sale at kungfuloung now. I just included those others to show a larger variety of Longfist forms.

In any case, the DVDs produced by Zhou are much better than Zhongguo Wushu Mingquan Lu, with much more detail, explanation of applications, etc.
