    Computer help needed!

I can't see YouTube with explorer. I downloaded a popup blocker, and it didn't work well, so I uninstalled it. Ever since I can't see vids on You Tube.

I made sure Java was enabled, and tried to down load adobe flash player, but for some reason it won't down load or install.

I even uninstalled explorer, and reinstalled it. No luck.

I even uninstalled my anti virus, and firewall, and tried it all over again..still no luck.

Does anyone have any fixes for this?

[EDIT] strange, everything in Fire Fox works fine though.....

Those that are the most sucessful are also the biggest failures. The difference between them and the rest of the failures is they keep getting up over and over again, until they finally succeed.

check your active x controls, maybe you turned a few off or when you went crazy uninstalling and reinstalling you forgot to allow some of them back in?

alternately, go to windose update and make sure you got all th latest criticals.

and lastly, give it a day or two while google finishes raping youtube and it might function better for you.

What version of IE do you have? 7 is buggy as all get out.

I build websites for a living and I wish that everyone would uninstall IE. I hate that browser. It sucks to develop for. Fire Fox is far superior. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise!

What is an "active x control", and how do I check it?
Don't forget, my computer skills are on par with my spelling skills...

I solved it!! I had to download an older verison of Flash player.

For soe reason the one on Adobe's site would not download and install. I had to find one on another "Free download" site.

Or better yet, just switch to Firefox like everyone else and wash your hands of that MS piece of garbage.

Actually, I do use Firefox when I do my market research. I keep Explorer open for the boards.

In Yahoo, Firefox will not let me paste from the mouse. I have to used contral - v. I can past from the mouse with Explorer though, so i actually use both. i do my market research in Firefox, cut the data out, and past it into Yahoo E-mail that is opened in explorer.

That's a really wierd bug. It pastes with the mouse fine for me but I always find controll-v more convenient anyways except for when I have lots of tabs open and sometimes I get the wrong thing control-v'd to my clipboard.

I only leave IE around because it's usefull to have something ELSE as my "default browser" on the windows settings. I HATE IT when I finish installing something and it opens a browser page to congratulate me. . . . in the window that I was just reading something else in. So I set it so that any windows that will open up automatically will be in IE and leave my Firefox browsing undisturbed.

The other thing that is kind of annoying is a lot of Chinese sites don't view properly in Firefox because Firefox is still not very widespread in China so the programmers don't take it into account. Things display wierd for a small minority of Chinese websites.

One last reason is so that I can keep my security settings high on one browser and lower in another in oder to avoid changing settings all the time to view the one page in 50 where my security settings are too high to let me in. Zone alarm is good for that though because it lets me tailor the settings more easily according to the websiter.

Firefox pasts just fine in ANY other aplication too, except when I am useing it to write an E-mial in Yahoo. Then it won't do it. Funny, In internet explorer however, it will past from the mouse, but not copy from it.......weird.

Come to think of it, RD, I think I HAVE seen that bug but just never identified the pattern. Just sometimes I'd be scratching my head wondering how THAT ended up being the link I pasted into my post. Prolly just left in the clipboard form before because the new link didn't copy in with control-C. ???

    Fuxen,

Hard to say. We can only guess but a lot of us have noticed that almost immediatley after Google took over Youtube started freaking out. Videos won't load or load increidbly slowly. It goes down a lot now. NONE of which was the case, except very rarely, untill Google bought them out.

    Coincidence? . . . . . . .

Chinese tech companies have sparked controversy on social media after choosing to motivate their male employees by hiring 'programming cheerleaders'.'

The 'pretty, talented' girls are hired to 'create a fun work environment' for employees of internet companies across the country, according to social media website Trending in China.

'Their job includes buying programmers breakfast, chitchatting and playing ping-pong with them,' the post said.

Programming cheerleaders: Chinese tech companies are hiring women to motivate their male employees

'Pretty and talented': The women are hired to create a 'fun working environment' for the programmers

Pictures show young women being trained in a corporate room by a senior employee, each dressed in bright outfits and taking notes.

Additional images show the women chatting to employees as they work, laughing with a number of male workers and participating in what appears to be an office sing-along.

They also show one of the employees playing ping-pong with one of the women.

An HR manager of one of the companies that apparently hired three of the 'cheerleaders' told the site that their programmers were 'mostly male and terrible at socialising.'

Boosting the social environment: The women chat to the employees and drive fun, social activities

Ping-pong breaks! The women also buy breakfast for the men and play ping-pong with them throughout the day

'The presence of these girls have greatly improved their job efficiency and motivation,' the HR manager said.

The response on social media to the pictures has been less positive.

'Or you know, hire some women who code. Oh wait, that would be too intimidating for there man-children, right?' One Facebook user wrote.

'Greatly improved their motivation': An HR manager said the women have improved the employees efficiency

'How about the female coders? Do they get some men?' Another said.

'I bet that these girls would work better than the guys in this company, and without needing any cheerleading stuff for that. This is ridiculous,' a female user said.

It is currently unknown what companies are choosing to introduce this role and how many have indeed adopted it.
