Thread: Luan Jie Video??

18elders - you might not be buying that DVD so soon.

Thanks Jake - its all starting to come together now.

Apparently the organizer of the MQ event is in potential risk of being sued if he releases the DVD for sale and makes money on the exchange. This is what I heard through the grapevine.

But this is just another string of events for Sifu Cottrell. First the lie about being a disciple of Brendan Lai and now this commercial venture mess.

Now I know why you guys did not want to touch this one!

    Regards,

He is a ****ing troll. Ignore him. I have yet to see him do anything that could be considered remotely suportive of the community at large! I personally could care less about someone being a disciple. It don't mean jack squat. I have met plenty of "disciples" who could not carry my jock! Steve can use his stuff, and has done more for the mantis community than anyone here or elsewhere.
Let me know when Shr's DVD comes out please. Email me, as it is a waste of time posting anything here for the most part.

    Cheers
    Jake

Nice cinematic turn of phrase 18elders! And dead on too. The MQ forum grapevine is poisonous, poor old Richard Tolson.

    Jake,

This thread is funny because you are the one who originally made the cynical joke about the delay in Sifu Cottrells DVD. Where it gets interesting for you is that you knew about Sifu Cottrells potential troubles, and yet you still decided to take a poke at the whole thing on this forum anyway.

I knew nothing of the issues until the other day bro.
Since I was part of the whole deal, I feel a right to "be cynical" about whatever I wish. Again, what have you contributed???
    Thats what I thought.

Well I am glad you have finally admitted to my original point about you being cynical on the slow pace of the DVD release.

But you are still missing the point about Sifu Cottrell making false claims of discipleship. It was a simple issue of dishonesty - nothing more, nothing less. It has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to use Mantis. Why you mention this or even the value of discipleship is irrlevant, and shows one of two things. One, that you are trying to change topics, or two, that you dont pay attention to what you write.

    Cottrell-hating fools.

Actually, Jake doing his name-calling thing brings us back to the Tolson thing nicely.

I really liked this quote for Sifu Cottrell:

"Forum Members, this is not a fluke. Mr. Tolson has been opposed to the Quarterly as a commercial venture, to the DVD as a commercial venture and is personally opposed to commercial teaching of Kung-Fu. That he would hasten to use a bit of information is not surprising."

Tolson is a regular contributor to that forum but as soon as he says the wrong thing he's labelled as being ideologically opposed to Sifu Cottrell then cast out. As "anti-commercialist". That quote above reads like a Cultural Revolution denouncment. He has been secretly planning to bring down the glorious organisation all along, just waiting for his chance.

Go the whole way, call him a communist or anti-american or something. At least get the word traitor in there.

    3 Harmonies,
Im suprised to hear you say Cottrell is Bogusly attempting to make money off of everyone.
I know very little about Cottrells business exploits, so i personally couldnt say if im disgusted or not by whatever he does. however it does sound a bit harsh.

I did not say that, it was in reference to the Cottrell haters on this forum. Check out the sarcastic

    Hi Jake,

You have an interesting perspective on things.

First you come out on this forum and are openly cynical about Cottrell and the late DVD.

But then when other people come out and make relevant follow up mention of the possible lawsuit point that is being openly discussed on the MQ thread, and you immediatley label them as haters.

    Peace,
    BBK

    18Elders,

The funny thing is, it was Jake who changed gears and braught up Sifu Cottrells DVD. I remember you also continued posting along with the rest of us.

So the question is, are you calling Jake an asswipe for changing topics, or all of us (including yourself) for continuing to post on a topic that was not about Lan Jie?

Thats a hoot and a half.

The bottom line is this thread still remains about mantis, mantis events, and people in mantis.

    Rgds,
    BBK
