    Wooden dummy business

Hey guys, I'm not trying to sell anything here, I'm just asking for some opinions.

I've made a handfull of wooden dummies. I notice threads on here all the time with people asking about where they should buy one.

Here's a link to my wooden dummy page: http://www.mccarriedesign.com/wooden_dummy/

I've been thinking about making wooden dummies as a side business to finance my martial arts habbit.

    Any thoughts?

    What should I charge?

And just so I don't get banned. If I did decide to pursue this, I would probably place an ad in good old KFM to drum up business.

    So what do you think?

    Hello,

Well if you can build a dummy for $197.00 and sell it for less than $300 plus shipping you could have some business. Of course it would depend on how many you could turn out and the overall quality.

I recently lost my long time friend and dummy to someone else so I am actually looking for one. I prefer a full wooden dummy to the pvc body and wooden arm variety.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss further.

Oh, to the person who now has custody of my dummy I want it back or I will make you pay support
    Peace,

    Dave

You need to calculate how many hours it takes you to make the dummies.

I have a friend that also makes dummies and finds it easier to make them in a row - setting up for multiple arms, etc. This way he can make them faster and charge the same hourly charge for a single.

Dunno if this helps. Also figure out how much it would cost to ship in USA and CAN, as those will be your biggest markets.

    So. My next question:

How much is it gonna cost me for you to make me a dummy with a corner-unit freestanding stand?

    Thanks,

Hmmmm. Maybe I'll just make another one to really see how long it takes and how much it costs.

I have rough estimates but I'm not sure how acurate they are.

    Thanks for the input guys.

I just may have a dummy on the market here in a few weeks.

Keep me in the know. I'll need one this summer for sure.
