I lost interest after the first few pages. The blog is more succinct.

Wow, this is by far the oldest thread I have ever seen. I was 6 years old when the first post was made and I'm in highschool now. Some people just don't know when to let a thread die.

Hey, folks. Stumbled across this thread and thought I'd put a couple of facts out there. I am a student of, and an instructor in Bok Fu Do.

The Moore brothers were two of GM Lee's first two BBs. Their primary instructor was Pat Douglas with input from GM Lee. They left and created their own system of Shou Sou. They have not been associated with Bok Fu Do for 40 years. I will leave the "quality" issue, or lack thereof, for you to decide for yourself.

The "Bok Fu Do" demonstration in the other thread was an audition for a reality tv show on martial arts that was to be produced and broadcast in China and was choreographed accordingly. There are a number of Bok Fu Do demonstration videos on YouTube, not just that one. Again, the quality of what you see is up to your own interpretation.

One final note, although Bok Fu Do is considered a CMA, it has no association with Bok Fu Pai (White Tiger Way), a tradional Chinese style.

bok fu do is a mix of languages and therefore...

bak fu pai (pai = clan) is jimmy do wais made up pile of crap from poorly played bak mei that he didn't leran properly.

"white tiger" in either "way" or "clan" flavour has yet to be shown as a viable form of martial art. It certainly isn't authentic traditional chinese martial arts and you won't find any reference to white tiger kungfu outside of people like doo wai, jim lacy or simon olaf.

    all of whom are questionable.

making stuff up is making stuff up. forms without meaning are crap. training in made up melanges of questionable materials is crap.

better off taking up western boxing and finding a wrestling school.

tcma of any quality are getting harder and harder to find. it doesn't help one iota when these groups are running around making silly and spurious claims and really, if they've been doing it for 100 years doesn't make it any more valid.
Kung Fu is good for you.

Yes it is a mix of two languages. Never said it wasn't. Bok Fu Kenpo (White Tiger Fist) was the original name, taken from an article about GM Lee when he was in Tapei in 1972. http://www.bokfudo.com/magazine.html

The Do was added in 1994 at the urging of General Wu and General Chen of the ICKF based in Taiwan, and GM Huang, Chen-Liang of Tien Shan Pai, and GM Al Tracy of Tracy Kenpo. In addition, Shotokan was where GM Lee got his first BB, and the "Do" pays homage to that. The ICKF recognizes Bok Fu Do as a system of Chinese martial arts that was developed in the west. Note that I don't call it TCMA, because it isn't.

No hidden agenda here, or an attempt to claim Bok Fu Do is something it isn't. I'm just trying to provide facts to a discussion that involves my school.
