Thread: Jackie Chan's Disciples

  1. #31

    It says

Contestants must be a Chinese citizen or Chinese descendants from 18 to 28, be moral and free of bad habits, and unsigned by any entertainment, broker or producing company.
To me, this statement indicates that contestants need to be of Chinese heritage, not just Asian. Although, I see a loophole. Someone who is non-Chinese (ethnically) but has Chinese citizenship should technically be able to enter if the quote is correct. Or, what if someone is a descendant of a non-Chinese (ethnically) Chinese-citizens? It would seem to me that they'd fit in because of a loophole as well. And what if someone is of mixed ethnicity (and part Chinese)? Not that I think any of these loopholes will come into play.

And what exactly does the winner get?

    a movie deal

Jackie plans to release three films between the finale of Disciple and the opening of the Beijing Olympics. Those three films will feature the ten winners, the "descendants of the dragon". That's a pretty quick production time, but you know how fast they can make films in China.

It's similar to the prize for K-STAR, which promised a TV movie series deal or something like that. I've heard some grumblings that the K-STAR movie hasn't progressed much so far, but who knows?

You missed the Star in K-Star

They weren't looking for just martial artists. They were looking for a whole star package. It's the same for Jackie's show.

The winner of K-Star was a guy named Gu Shenwei.

did he forget to *tip* the judges or something?

    Just kidding. Ok, maybe not.

Did your guys audition at the call in L.A.? I was invited to go to that, but I passed due to other commitments. Gigi and Jonathan from our mag went instead.

    i didn't go

i was in the middle of filming when they got the call and asked me for permission to go down there(ofcourse i said yes can't be a total D1ck) but when they came back and said they lost (my choreagrapher in particular guys a dead ringer for wu jing) i was a bit shocked. and told them not to worry about they probably just being doing some corny ass kung fu show that use's way to much baby powder and crappy sound effects. anyway i got full slate of work for them, here so it all worked out for me(i'm finishing my first feature, working on my second, and another kung fu play, work work work)okay enough of my shameless self promotion. okay one more
