Yeah, better to use the term Squirrel's Scorpion Strikes since Scorpion Strike is also an existing type of kick, one that is an obscure kick that I've been forced to use before, but the kung fu instructor that taught it to me never disclosed its origin, so if anyone here knows where it comes from please let us know...

Keep The Squirrel Distinction Scorpion Strikes And S. Kick Is Elsewhere Too

Wondering how YinOrYan's kick looked... investigated Scorpion as a technique and as a style or system. It seems people use the name for punch but are limited on actual scorpion-like techniques...

It even got to where we see someone claiming a move to be Capoiera--bent over to deliver it I can accept that. Byt elsewhere in the community it is a spinning back kick.

Straight-up Capoiera has a scorpion move--it seemed to be a two part kind of side ward striking.

Even Football-Soccer has a named type of moves...still relating to sidewards. -Ernie Moore Jr.

A woman seems known for creating a competition used kick Chloe from over head she calls scorpion.

One guy named a turning attack with an objectthe strikes up from below as Scorpion.

Bando mentions at leadt one type of scorpionbut in the one form I stsrted to watch and watched for several moves..nothing looked directly observablly Scorpion... so..I havevto take it with a grain of the description indication the moves do nerve attacks and are damaging akin to poison..So it does things like a scorpion's poison might affect..yet is muchly devoid of physical likeness.-Ernie Moore Jr.

Shaolin and a movie or two demonstrate something with a signature posture reminiscent of a scorpion. Yet the effective striking with it seems virtually nonexistent.

If Shaolin would drop while turning or merely strike backwards with it it could be a strong onesjot uppercut as a variation to a Tiger-Tail kick of a Hung Kuen Tiger set.....-Ernie Moore Jr..

Cynthia Rothrock in movies and a few who have since her done as her to effectively with umpff behind it perform a curved leg head strike with the bottom of the foot. Whch resembles a scorpion posture strike..but not ever did I hear it referred to as scorpion..

Even the competition person only hinted at the move. My envisioning its usevas she described and went through motions it counts as a point in competition yet it is more a tap than a forceful strike.

I probably saw the movie and later that week tried the move... it is good for upperbody development along the lines of the kungfu Centipede Leap. Shaolin Scorpion form has a Centipede Leap stle locomotion.

Squirrel's Scorpion Strike has [it does Now--had an original grip..rethunk it. Went with a category of Squirrel grabs called Catching A Fly--Catching Flies...]

I tjought the standard grabbing tightly in practice missed the reality of actually catching or a successful grab...I had concern that while zi squeeze good shadowboxing the finger strength cannot reach the max squeeze and would be less functional being outsidevthe zonr of practical use. I sided with having an open grab forvthe muscles to be optimum at a zone where they would be if I made a sucessful grab.

Only Cynthia Rothrock actress Martial Artist famos bend forward to strike from above and overhead seems a competent forceful scorpionlike move vompared to the majority of claims of scorpion nesses.-Ernie Moore Jr.

The movie Five Deadly Venoms has a scorpion styke an an expert kicker..yet still no scorpion-lie kicks.

Notice to Me!!! Scorpion is also the pincers and not just the tail or stinger. The flamboyant kicking in the movie the Five Deadly Venoms has a side effect of indicating developing a superior grip from holding on.

I was taken aback looking for what YinOrYan had mentioned. I saw images of scorpions and realizedmy Squirrel Scorpion Strke might count as a grip or grab and thst that tracks with scorpion's pincers....however,,literal me would not ever have made the association without that looking around ad to me a grab is not enough like a pincer.

A bird wing hand with the added layer of opposible thumb coul be pincers...an looking at it so coul Spok's livelong and prosper of Vulcan..by extension the opening and pinching together of combinations of digits on a hand could make picer....exercise....thumb pressing-thumb striking the 2nd 3rd 4th 5th distal phalange...even medials and proximals for development.

Adding a pincer exercuse fits in with Ernie Moore Jr. developmental but vurtually useless exercises--Guitar Playing Kung, Ho Pan Palm, Squirrel's Spider Hand--a pressure to curling the digits of a hand in to the palm and from the palm outwards to hyper extension.

Adding Squirrel Pincers is other than organic. I have added things for people requests...Wind Legs and Squirrel's Hamster style...Ifeel as though I should refuse it..yet it seems reasonable as an add. For digit health and development..but it seems aside from direct fight looking stuff. And so weirdness.

One thing I am getting behind frm this concept of having Squirrel Pincers is similar to having Squirrel's Spider Hand--having resistance from the other direction to ciunterthe tightening in a grab direction from Squirrel's Scorpion Strike.

But here is an example of Squirrel's Scorpion Strike..No_Know

The other already Squirrel Scorpion technique is a kick...but it is direct.. I see tjis as Scorpion strike from the flexed foot when the knee is brought-up. Ideally a Squirrel practitioner stays flat footed..this goes with what I got from a pa kua ch'uan book...just the phrase for instruction I took it to Heart and literal walk as if stepping in mud..to walk in mud the feet are flat and no forward no side no backward....straight up and this is how a Squirrel practitioner should walk... I use it here...

The scorpion kick very well could have come out of Capoiera since both hands are flat on the ground, but it probably came out of kung fu because its one of those moves to avoid ground fighting if you hit the ground retreating. It is an inverted kick that can also be used as a one-shot trick move if you are in shape enough to roll out of it and back onto your feet. Could have something to do Leopard Style since good forms tend to have matching offensive and defensive moves built into them somewhere...
