    WTF is Army Kwan Do, and wouldn't the fact that worldwide (and prob in the States) aikido is practised way more than whatever TF Army Kwan Do is guarantee AKD more recognition as aikido than Army Kwan Do?
    CB = Chinese Boxing
    CMA = Chinese Martial Arts
    EB = Eastern Boxing
    GJJ2 = German Jiu Jutsu
    HMA = Hybrid Martial Arts
    LINE = Linear Infighting Neural Override Engagement
    And what are any of these? I can guess German Jujutsu but why do the Germans qualify to have an individual JJ?

    Notable omissions:

    catch wrestling
    Graeco-Roman wrestling
    collegiate wrestling
    Old English Wrestling (Lancashire, Cumberland, Cornish)
    WWII combatatives (Fairburn etc)
    Jun Fan
    Western Sword Arts.

    and the worldwide biiiig karate styles

    goju ryu
    ****o ryu
    wado ryu
    shukokai
    Okinawan Shorinji Kenpo (different to Japanese shorinji kenpo)

    and the smaller

    Uechi ryu
    Shuri-te
    Naha-te
    Seido kaikan
    Okinawan Martial Arts in general
    Koryu/kobudo in general
    Katori Shingen Yagyu Shinto Ryu

    NMA seems redundant when you have JMA.
    GKR do no-contact 'sparring' - does that qualify as an MA?!
    On all the aiki-related forums you find DRAJJ as Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu.
    CAn't help but think Bullshido's cute little __ng _un helps to do away the need for every similarly named lineage in Wing Chun!

    I have to say... I think this is a little pointless. Not to diss you or anything, just that are people really going to use them? I can't see anyone consulting a list before posting, and the standard plain English staple of saying the full version then abbreviating in parentheses would seem to neagte the need for all this jargonese: e.g. pre-war aikido (PWA).
    its safe to say that I train some martial arts. Im not that good really, but most people really suck, so I feel ok about that - Sunfist

    Sometime blog on training esp in Japan

    And conspicuously missing here are two of the acronyms that I see posted on these forums most often:

    TMA - Traditional Martial Arts
    TCMA - Traditional Chinese Martial Arts

    Or I suppose you could save space with an infix C (i.e. not a suffix or a prefix) in parentheses:

    T(C)MA - Traditional (Chinese) Martial Arts
