    Bagua in UFC?

Watching UFC 76 Machida v Nakamura. End of round 1 Machida misses with a left and twists left dropping Nakamura. Need to see it again but it looked like a throw I've seen in Bagua, unintentional though. Also similar to something in Northern Mantis.

But then he comes out in round 2 and hits Nakamura with a right and hooking the leg and twisting and dropping him again, this one intentional but very similar to the Bagua move.

Round 3 he hooks the leg and pushes forward executing the takedown as it's typically done.

Now I'm not saying he does Bagua or that he was intending to do the move but it just came out that way. Any Bagua guys notice this care to comment?

I just find it interesting and really want to get a look at that again. Unfortunately I'm not taping the fights.

Edit: Has anyone noticed the similarity of techniques across the board on the Human Weapon series?

Oh yeah, Tyson Griffin v Thiago Tavares one of the best fights I've seen. That's a ground fight I can get excited about. Edge of the seat action.

It is when you're talking about Forrest but I'm talking about a different Griffin. Really good fights for both Griffins last night.

As SevenStar likes to say, good fighting looks like good fighting.

Yes, but each style has it's preferred method...you can see that in the way it's practitioners fight.

I saw those throws as well, they look similar to some throws I have seen in a few Chinese systems, but He is a traditional Shotokan guy from Brazil. He also is a Brown Belt in BJJ ...... and his Shotokan Sensi is his father.
