Does anyone know of any Chinese New Year Celebrations. I heard last year on Bellaire there was a nice parade. If you know of any happenings please post.

but there are some hot spots to find lion dancing and cny celebration stuff i guess......hong kong city mall...tan tan restaurant....and the new jackie tan restaurant.....probably both saturday and sunday u can find some action at HK CITY MALL...as far as tan tan and jackie tan,....i dont know what days they are doing it....and you will probably see more lion dancing at those other centers...but i dont know time...so yeah....

The Southern Newsgroup, publisher of the Houston Chinese Newspaper has a big one every year. They are located on Bellaire past the Beltway. Ususally both days, Feb. 9th and 10th. Our school will be performing there and usually Xing Hao's school too. I know we have five performances over that weekend, there is usually a big one too at the Phoenix restraunt on Bellaire up by Hwy 6. that one is huge, usually about 5000 people, not sure if we are performing there or not this year.

I know there was I used parade because there was a big group of people and martial artist doing a variety of demos.Dates have not been confirmed yet please please post when you find out .Thanks

I could ask my instructor when and where a parade is taking place.
I think he is organizing something for chinese new year. I will see him on monday, and ask him what is happening.

Best thing to do honestly, is to stay at Tan Tan on sunday and just watch all the performances, usually the best or most popular teams are invited to perform there.
Or on sunday you can go to Jackie Tan's restaurant instead if you want. Im not exactly sure if it is on sunday, but i will find out and post here.
Or you can attend the Viet Hoa festival on the 24 also. a lot of teams will be performing there all day.
*****the performances i named are mostly lion dancing, if you want to see shaolin kung fu, than refer to songshan post since that school is a shaolin school, i dont know the times for the other 3 shaolin schools*****
