    Wing Chun on Social Networks

DrLeungJohn started this idea on another forum, and made me curious as to who users what and why (except for Phil Redmond -- he's everywhere!). If anyone else is on any of these services, and knows good places to look for WCK related stuff, please let me know:

Facebook (for day to day social interaction and presence):

    http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=652991231

Twitter (to extend my non-WCK blog and keep up with Tech-talk):

    http://twitter.com/reneritchie

Twitter (dedicated to the WCK stuff):

    http://www.twitter.com/w1ng/

LinkedIn (when forced to for real world jobiness):

    http://www.linkedin.com/in/reneritchie

Jaiku (to collect all presence, though Google has squandered it of late):

    http://reneritchie.jaiku.com/

Pownce (because I got in early on the trendy beta but never found much use for it):

    http://pownce.com/reneritchie/

Tumblr (wasn't useful enough as a linked list, do it became another presence log)

    http://reneritchie.tumblr.com/

ClaimID (perhaps for eventual OpenID goodness):

    http://claimid.com/reneritchie

MySpace (abandoned but for DrLeungJohn and his batmobilephila)

    http://www.myspace.com/reneritchie

I prefer the "antisocial network" that is the KFO WC forum.

I can be found on Facebook most days, due to a very boring and uneventful job! If anyone wants to link up in London, or just checkout what I'm doing, sign up and contact me here:

As for anywhere else Rene?? You missed the delightful Youtube! I use the site regularly but only log-in once a week. Check my collection of clips here:

I think you've probably covered everywhere else!! Looking forward to seeing who else is 'real' here...

MySpace was originally conceived of as an online marketing and networking tool for Indie musical bands, but soon became one of the first mega-Social networks in general, and was bought by Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp.

Due to it's largely chaotic nature, where individual's profile pages can become a veritable mess of sound and motion, form and fury, many have left it for Facebook, which began as a college/university only way to socialize and share event invitations, but has likewise been opened up (i.e. desired to monetize it's way into ad revenue) to everyone.

Twitter is a micro-blog, 140 characters (text message length) where people blurt what they're doing and where.

Pownce is DIGG founder Kevin Rose's version of a Twiter/Facebook hybrid.

The rest are mostly more specialized versions of similar/same.

No, AOL is Time Warner, MySpace is NewsCorp (Fox), but the internet is now pretty much open access, and no matter who your connection comes from, you can go anywhere you want (until they push through net-non-neutrality, but that's a different topic for a different day).

    Just click on http://www.myspace.com/

(Though that's so yesterday, all the cool kids are on http://www.facebook.com, while the snobs are on http://www.pownce.com/, and the trendsetters are all over the place trying to discover the next big thing while realizing that communities need to be acted upon by huge forces to really ever move elsewhere).

Bottom line, ask your friends what they use and then use the same thing. Social networks are only ever as useful as the size of the network you have on them...

net hasn't been neutral for a while. Many of the major telecom companies have admited in some way to none-neutral activity. Face it, its a loosing battle... its not really enforcible... most of all the people pro net-neutrality will never get enough pull (becouse they don't have the $$ to buy the votes). The larger issue is that NOBODY KNOWS WTF I'm talking about.

Its probably one of the most important issues today. .. but does any of the candidates talk about it? maybe for a split second Osama Obama did... but thats it. (Oh mcain has stated many times he is against net neutrality).

its better when we don't understand, we sleep better at night.
    (OK end of rant)...
