Athletes: 18-35 yrs. (16 yrs. w/written permission from a parent or guarding) must be in excellent health and good conditioning, free of previous and disqualifying injuries, free of life threatening and transmittable diseases. All athletes must have proof of medical insurance and sign the Tournament Director/Promoter's waiver form.

Do they actually make amateur fighters show proof of insurance? All my fighters are college age and do not have insurance.

If I recall correctly, they checked my classmates ins. ID card at the weigh in last year.

If they are enrolled in school, they may have coverage from the school or their covered under their parents policy if they are under 25.

I hope you don't actually think that's what goes on here!
LOL...our system isn't perfect....and many doctors make their own decisions involving controversial issues.

To treat or not patients who smoke.
To perform or not, abortions.

Actually, one topic that's been around Winnipeg for a bit is the right of a doctor to unplug someone and who's decision it is. The family? The doctor? The courts?

All I know is that if I'm ever sick or need surgery, I won't have to worry at all about the cost of it. Sadly we don't have universal pills yet and I doubt our current conservative government will be changing that, but there's always hope.

Canda does have great free health coverage but there is a catch.

Dependence on the doctor and the regulations/guidelines the must follow when it comes to more serious items (ie: cancer, neurological and psychological disorders, etc.)

For the average, Cold, Broken bone, acne then thats fine but get a major disease and you'll find out just how the sytem works.

I speak from experience in working in quite a few big city hospitals in the US. I don't know if the stats are made public but we've been privy to the numbers of Foreigners seeking medical care here and its astounding.

One major hospital that sees alot of foreigners is NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation (many hospitals but Bellvue is probably the biggest). You've got people traveling while extremely sick and are able to get treatment here because they are too sick to be sent home. Nice trick

Oh yeah, it's definitely got some issues.

You might wait 6 months for that FREE hip replacement surgery. If you've got the cash go down to the states and get it done tomorrow. However, in America, if you don't got the cash, you don't get the hip.

Hip Replacement is not life threatening.

I'd rather wait 6 months for a free hip replacement surgery then to have to wait 6 months for Chemo Therapy (6 months your probably dead alread)

oh and lets not mention the number of Black Market Organ transplants that take place in Canada.........

Same thing applies in Canada as the US. IF you got the $$ you get to live longer.

Hell I personally believe that if a person is or was a smoker and develops lung cancer they shouldn't be on the organ recepient list. And I come from a large family with uncles and ocusings who are heavy smokers at that. Their Choice, live with it.

Now lets get back to San Shou..

Good point about the smokers and I agree, but the doctors do have a choice.

I'd rather get my chemo in 6 months then not at all because I can't afford it!
That said, of all the people I know of that had chemo or needed life threatening heart surgery, they got it very soon.
