Lama Pai / Hop Ga VIDS! Sifu David Rogers and Sifu Michael Parrella

Here are some clips that Sifu Rogers and I shot. Hope you like 'em!

Sifu Rogers went back to the UK today, it was the third time we met. We had lots of fun talking about our Hop Ga and Lama Pai styles. He has learned from some excellent teachers and has great skills. If anyone is in the UK, I would definatly recommend training with him. Sifu Rogers can be reached at www.risingcrane.co.uk

    Sifu's David & Mike,

    Thoroughly enjoyed watching this.

More of this kind of stuff is what is needed to broaden the understanding of these great traditions.

I particularly enjoyed the contrasting Tien Choi and the way Lama Pai seems to use it to 'blast' through the opponent striking both on the up and down. Also found the last discussion on kahp choi very interesting. In our school we train gwa, kahp, binh as one set and find it has good application value when the opponent is on the move.

    All good stuff.

    Thanks again!

    Kind regards,
    David

You know Mike, what you are doing, this openness, this sharing is truly above and beyond the call of duty.
If more people would be as open to showing their chosen MA the way it is suppose to be done, we would have a lot less charlatons and a lot less confusion about what is "real".
Truly, what you are doing is inspirational for all MA, you are setting a fine example for current and future generations.
    Well done.

Question, the last technique discussed, the "bread n butter" diagonal foreknuckle strike, how do you condition the knuckles?

The crap that many schools do is not the crap I was taught or train in or teach.

Dam nit... it made sense when it was running through my head.

Awww, that was cold! My feelings are hurt...lol

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback, there is another series of clips where we talk about how CLF and Hung Ga have added some Lama/Hop Ga at some point. Oh, and Sifu Rogers talks a lot more on those...lol

Thanks for all the positive feedback and thanks to S. Ronin for posting them on another forum as well. People have had kind things to say all day.

Sifu Rogers and I had a lot of fun comparing our respective styles and even trecked into the city to have a little tea with a certain David Ross. We went back to David's school after, did some forms, talked about and demonstrated technique, and shared some funny stories about our training and our teachers. We then retreated to the back alley behind David's school, where David Ross demonstrated his favorite techniques on some hapless vagabonds who had decided to rest there. After beating them about the head, chest, neck and face, he placed his foot atop on of their chests and began shouting to the heavens in Latin and then Armenian! We even looked up as if expecting something to happen. LOL! David had tricked us! He didn't even know Armenian! We laughed for hours about that one! A good time was had by all.

Oh, methinks you have it backwards! It was ROSS who did the thrashing, Rogers just starred in awe...mostly at Ross's "sloppy techniques" he said. When they beat the homeless in England, he said that they are much more efficient at it.

Beating the homeless, shooting brasilians, yes, I would agree.

    Hey Sifu Parrella,

I was looking forward to watching these since you put them up and finally got the time. Nicely done and quite interesting.

    Thanks for posting.
