in about 1984 I visited Grandfather Mountain, here in NC, and saw Mildred the famous bear in the 'zoo' at Grandfather. pretty sad. they sold bags of peanuts you could feed to her and she had accepted that she could sit back on her ass and catch the peanuts on her belly and eat them at her leisure.

are zoo's good?
many, many species have died out since the beginning of 'earth'.
many, many species will die out before 'earth' ends it's life as a planet in which carbon based life forms dependant on H20 and O2 can exist on it.
what is the 'natural' 'WAY' and what is not?
is artificial sustainment of any life 'natural', or 'right'?
if an organism cannot exist on it's own in it's heretofore natural environment then should it continue to exist?
are modern medical advances that extend life and enable life to exist where it would not have 100 years ago natural extensions of evolution or not?
is the **** that the beaver builds any less of a monstrosity than anything we can build?
