San Zhan/Sam Chien and Zhi Bu/ Jik Bo Comparison

I have read that both Samchien and Jikbo have the float/sink/spit/swallow concept as their core, but is there a difference in how they are expressed? What sets each form apart from the other?

Another queston, if Bak Mei's Nine Step Push is an extension of Jikbo, what is missing in Jikbo then?

    Thanks in advance!

    Jik Bo

A Bak Mei set that trains the practitioner how to use the four internal movements already mentioned Float/Sink/Spit/Swallow.
For the novice it is shown by the execution of the techniques and the body mechanics.
eg. Biul Ji (Thrusting Fingers) Technique will emulate the spit concept because of the gester the tecnique is doing to dart or thrust out.
But , do not get confused with the hand gester it is really what the body is doing while this techinque is executed.
The waist moves first then the upper body (torso) will raise then the hand gester comes out.

    Sam Chien

Depending on the style the set is coming from Fukien White Crane, Go Ju Ryu
the execution of the 4 concepts depends on the body movement and technique.
As mentioned above it must come from the waist and raising for spit and float and
and compressing or descending for sink and swallow.

As for Gou Bo Tui the four concepts are done throughout the set and not as evident as in Jik Bo where it is clearly seen or taught by this styles teachers.

Is Lung Ying's "Sup Luk Dong" like Bak Mei's Jik Bo? Or is it more complicated like Bak Mei's Gau Bo Toi?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sup Luk Dong

It is very similar to Jik Bo in that it trains Lung Ying practitioners the four internal body movements.
The only difference is in the technique or posture which the movement will be expressed.
