"Jun Mo team members met with Corinna Pyke, Culture Officer of Hackney's 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Unit, on Sunday 29th of June 2008 to discuss Jun Mo's participation in London's celebrations of the Olympic flag handover event on the 24th August 2008. It's a big event and there will be a lot of happenings all over London. Jun Mo will take the important task of signaling the start of the actual Olympic flag handover, by showcasing a spectacular display of martial arts and gymnastics, most notable of these is the Wing Chun martial art of Lee Shing lineage. The event will be in Shoreditch Park from 1pm to 5pm. If you want to be actually participating with Jun Mo in this historical event for London, please contact us here at Jun Mo. Watch this space..."

I was at the meeting, and the Event is actually the finale of Shoreditch Festival http://www.shoreditchfestival.org.uk/

The clip just shows a lil example of the type of Wing Chun demonstration that Jun Mo have become known for here in the UK. I participated in one fo their first public performances at a Chinatown Banquet in 1997. We also took a Flag Troupe of thirty to The Millennium Dome on New Years Eve 1999.

From what I heard at the meeting, Jun Mo may also have an area of the park where they will be promoting their activities throughout the day and if all goes according to plan I will be there myself too.

I'd like to know (honestly!) what you think of the clip, and if you support this type of activity for Martial Artists'.

When was the last time you promoted your art like this?

    The Senishow, UK

The Senishow is another event in the UK I have been fortunate enough to be involved with since 2001. Many people have trained at Jun Mo, and some of us 'elder' types have since moved on. Returing to our source is still a regular thing for most of us as the relationship between teacher and student is still strong.

Here's a showreel recently added to Youtube which was filmed at SENi05. One Family working together!

    The thread begins.

    You know what to do...

Never! It's pretty amazing, though... The family atmosphere of it.

It's funny, I've heard sayings like: "He who screams the loudest knows the least."

But I always add my part: "But he who doesn't scream at all gets no training partners."

You have to shamelessly plug your school, your art, your passion...or else no one will even know you exist. Oh, and you have to do what you do well with a smile on your face. Those two things get you more clients and help them stay.

    Best,

    Thanks Spencer,
All great and interesting stuff. It seems that good Wing Chun is alive and well in the UK.
